Dustin Penner and Co.

I have always been a Penner fan even in the first 2 years in edmonton. i have been a firm believer that Mac-T was a terrible coach, and his constant ripping and torture of Penner did nothing but destroy the confidence of DP! with that said he never really showed up to camp in shape. the first year was a stanley cup hangover, but last year......well.... that was last year, but this year he came in lean and mean!! its very enjoyable to watch him skate through around and over top of defenders! I believe the near trade to Ottawa shocked and woke him up, as it did with cogs and smid, but penner seems to be playing with an edge, a nastiness he needs to be successful.

This team is too small to compete in the nhl!! not mean or gritty enough!
That is all we have heard from bloggers and reporters. its quite aggravating to hear nothing but negativity from these apparent unbiased opinions! lets take a look at this team.
small forwards.
cogs, gags, comrie, brule- all to small to help this team compete.
well as this season slowly progresses i have yet to see anybody retract those comments. not only are they competing but they are winning games! its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. and these boys have lots of fight!! you have to give credit to jaques and stone, they have helped create space for these boys to create offense. but we are seeing a young offensively gifted team score and bang around!!
Goaltending
after 2 lackluster starts the world jumped all over khabibulin claiming this was chicago all over again! well after last nights performance it has become obvious it just took a lil bit to create chemistry with his d-men. this team at times has major lapses in their own zone and khabi is bailing them out!! this team can win and will win!
Rumors???
this will be fun!
the rumors are flying around that horton could be an oiler! apparently every top 6 forward is coming to the Oil.
i am gonna squash that right now! The oil have pieces they could move but when your winning, why change what works?? The panthers gm is not even close to thinking about getting rid of Horton and with the cap scenarios of a lot of teams whether that be self imposed or league imposed, there are not very many teams that have wiggle room! especially Edmonton! so i would disregard any trade rumors involving the oilers unless the team has room to take on a player like visnovsky or gilbert! even the teams that can take on those salaries there is not much to get back in return!
For now this team is happy with its productivity so far! minus the defensive gaffes and mental lapses! but that will all change when they become confident in quinn/renney's system! please feed back is welcome!!

Great blog man I am so happy we have 2 writers for the Oil now on this site been coming here for awhile now and there was no Oil writters and now we have two, amazing!!! Keep them coming and I will be here to read!!!

All these rumors need to be squashed because they aren't happening right now. We don't have the bodies to move at the moment. Shall be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks when we get bodies back. Until then I won't get to concerened with the negative press we are getting now.
