Plenty going on in the NHL right now but nothing that I can't comment on in a few sentences or less. So in no particular order let's get to it.
Keegan Lowe signed a 2 year two way contract with the Oilers worth 675,000. At first glance it's easy to see the name Lowe and start seething however Lowe had a good showing with the Condors last season and certainly deserves another look. With a strong training camp he could be an option for the Oilers 7th D man.
Nothing too big coming out of the NHL Combine yet. It should be known that while not every drafted player attends the Combine the Oilers have a history with drafting players who have so for you draft fanatics; these are the names you should be looking at.
Apparently the Oilers are one of three teams that took left shot Finish centre Jesperi Kotkaniemi out for dinner. Here is the word on Kotkaniemi:
A smart forward with a dangerous shot, Kotkaniemi possesses a high hockey IQ and determination with the skills to back it up. Positions himself well and often seems to be a step ahead of plays. Stickhandling and creativity allow him to split professional defences as a teenager. Decent size and frame, yet a very capable skater. (Matias Strozyk, 2017)
Drafting Kotkaniemi would not be a reach by any means and if he is the best player available when it comes to the Oilers at 10th they should certainly give him a look.
The Washington-Vegas series has been one of the better NHL Cup Finals in recent years and frankly it's hard to not root for Vegas. This is the first time all playoffs that Vegas has lost two games in a row, it will be interesting to see how they fair on Monday night.
Arizona is reportedly offering Oliver Ekman-Larsson a 8 year contract paying over 8 million a year. OEL is the pivot on the Coyotes backend and I don't see anyway they trade him unless the player wants out. The above mentioned deal makes sense for both sides.
While most fans like to poke fun at teams like Carolina, Arizona, and Florida as teams that should move to "real NHL markets" there isn't a organization in more disrepair than the Ottawa Senators. From the whole Karlsson potential trade, to public comments about the owner, to the legal issues with Assistant General Manager Randy Lee... things are looking bleak for the Canadian Franchise.

What a great post talking about the NHL. I know little about this sport but thanks to these types of posts, I am finding out better what it is like. It has always been a sport that has caught my attention, although in my country it is not a sport that is practiced normally. From my company(mobiliario de hosteleria) we encourage you to continue writing these posts to help and inform more people like me. Thanks for sharing.
