NHL Single Game Slate 1 Breakdown

There’s only one game on the slate tonight so that means it’s a single game breakdown. Now with single game slates individual plays are what we focus on as well as correlation of line mates and power play partners and what we believe the game script will be. Also with captains/MVPs scoring at the elevated point rate makes them the most important decision of your lineup.

Dallas Stars @ Ottawa Senators

Both teams enter this game 1-1 after taking losses yesterday. The Stars lost to the Bruins 3-1 and the Senators dropped one to the Leafs at the same score after beating the Leafs 3-2 on Thursday. Dallas also opened their season with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers. Dallas games average 63.5 shots on goal and 7.5 power play opportunities, while the Senators games average 67 shots a game with 7 power play opportunities per game. Based off of these teams performances last year I could see 5-1 Dallas onslaughts having potential to go off. The Stars ranked 8th in scoring chances for (SCF) with 714 and 11th in high danger changes (HDF) with 182 and on the flip side the Senators were a sieve on defense last year ranking 3rd in scoring chances against (SCA) with 803 and giving up 212 high danger chances against (HAD) ranking 5th.

CPT/MVP

Anton Khudobin ($17,100 DK)

He’s the most expensive player on Draftkings but he has the potential to hit the 35+ save bonus, a good chance at the shutout and I believe Dallas wins this game which will deliver Khudobin more points. Khudobin has an excellent chance to hit his ceiling and is easier to project than finding skaters who might go off today.

Josh Norris ($11,000 FD)

Norris plays on the top line and the top power play unit and the Senators have a pretty tight range of scoring options leaving him with plenty of opportunities and a safe role among the forwards. His price tag is soft enough that it allows us to build a balanced lineup.

Value

Elsa Lindell ($7,000 DK, $6,500 FD)

Lindell plays on the top defensive pair for Dallas and on their power play unit. He also lead the team in blocked shots last year and plays on the penalty kill giving him a safe floor. While averaging over 20 minutes per game playing in all situations always makes his ceiling possible.

Drake Batherson ($6,800 DK, $9,000 FD)

Batherson plays on the top line and top power play unit with Josh Norris making him an excellent correlation with him. His price tag on FD will make him paying off for that price tag difficult but not out of the realm of reasonable possibilities.
