Kiprusoff and Next Year

So an article in the Calgary Herald this morning states Kipper wants Iginla type money (let the opposing fans in the NW speak now). I've talked about this before, but with the pay structure of the rest of the team, this is currently not an option.
Based on the site, http://www.nhlnumbers.com/cgy.html, the Flames have 11 current roster players signed to contracts for the 08-09 season. Their combined cost is approximately 32.5 million, with the need for two goalies, two defencemen and seven forwards to be inked to contracts and subsequently fill out the roster. Among the current roster players who need new contracts, besides Kiprusoff, for next year, three are expected to garner a large increase in salary: UFAs Kristian Huselius and Daymond Langkow, and RFA Dion Phaneuf.
IF the cap goes up to a conservative amount of $53 million, that leaves the Flames $20.5 million for those 11 players. With Kipper's take, that means 10 players need to fit under $13.5 million, including Dion Phaneuf and the expected raise he is set to earn. Say see you later to two thirds of one of our scoring lines.
How much is Kiprusoff worth to the Flames management? Is he worth buying out Aucoin and adding $2 million to their books for the next two years? Is he worth trading Alex Tanguay and his $5.25 million dollar contract?
Clearly the answer is yes, as he is a top 5 goalie in this league now and in the foreseeable future. But when do you pull the trigger on that rearrangement - now or later?

I would extend him right after January 1 when the salary counts against next year but he doesnt become a free agent. BTW, nice page.
Kiprusoff must be resigned. It doesn't matter if it takes 8 or 9 million per season to keep him in Calgary - this guy is one of the best (if not the best) goaltenders in the NHL and he deserves to be paid accordingly, especially after being underpaid for the last 2 seasons and this coming season. He will single handedly give you a chance to win each and every night, which is more than you can say for anyone else on that roster (including Iginla).
