10. Don Whittman and his terrible commentary. Bring back Cuthbert, for the love of all that is hockey.
9. The Flames didn't even look like they were that concerned they were being manhandled.
8. As per above, someone did mention to the Flames that they playoffs have started, right?
7. Too many penalties. Way too many. So undisciplined.
6. Simply speaking, the Flames were outcoached. Play Datsyuk and Zetterberg physically and they will disappear, as they always do in the playoffs. I know that, why the hell doesn't Playfair?
5. Kipper played awesome. Everyone else played like ass.
4. Where were the big names? Iggy, Huselius, Langdow? Were they dressed? Tanguay showed up at some point. Barely.
3, 2, and 1. WHERE IS THE GOD DAMN HITTING AND PHYSICAL PLAY? Why didn't we win a single puck battle? Why did we not get to a single loose puck? Why didn't we forecheck? What the hell?
Sutter said this team is built to win the cup. They ARE built to win the cup: under Sutter's coaching and Sutter's system. Playfair is the wrong man for the job. Eat crow Sutter. Fire Playfair, IN THE PLAYOFFS, and take over. We are done if you don't, or at least start running the team from the top.
The Flames are not in the same class as Detroit. This series will be over in 5
Wow! Calgary fans really have a hate on for Playfair. Guess what...the players play the game! Iginla needs to keep his yap shut and start playing the game the way that he can! Kipper has been very solid, too bad the Red Wings are absolutely too much for the boys from cowtown. Oh yeah, all most forgot, Whittman is terrible but you know what...he also doesn't play the freaking game! Ah---High Five! LOL!
The players also respond to a coach. Sutter would have them skating hard until they puke. It's easy to say the players play the game, but teams have a coach for a reason. Playfair is the wrong coach for this team. That being said, yes it is the playoffs fault, they just need a better stimuli.
I think the Wings will win the series, but it will be a long one. Can't believe the Wings have scored 4.
I agree, Wittman is terrible. On paper the Flames are every bit as good as the Wings. Ifthey play to their talent level they can still win this thing. Otherwise they will lose and lose quickly, and Playfair will take the fall, which probably isn't fair.
Calgary is incredible on paper. This seems to be a motivation and/or system problem if you ask me. Lets see how game 2 turns out before we start jumping off bridges though.
Kiprusoff made some incredible saves, but a couple of the goals -- although not blatently soft -- should have been stopped. Iginla was weak, weak, weak. If Calgary is going to go anywhere but out quickly(and I hope they are gone fast...sorry xmyth), he has to focus on his own team not react to the Wings. That's how Vancouver did better this year than they usually do against Calgary -- by getting Iginla off his game or letting him stay asleep.
Vetts touched on the only two positives we can take from that game: Kipper is solid, and Cleary might have lit a fire. Bad move.If Iggy hadn't taken a penalty at the end of the game, he would have fought. Although the new last 5 minute game misconduct rule kind of prevents that. Sigh.
Me like game 1 a lot - a whole lot meesta!!!!!!!
Datsyuk is a much more physical player than he was just last year and Zetterberg was the one doing the hitting. You might want to come up with more of a plan than that. This series is long from over, but Babcock has been working to make the Wings scrap more. As to Cleary 'running' Kiprusof, that was just bad luck, man up and admit it. Cleary was clearly looking back up the ice, Kiprusof was way out of the crease and Cleary did not have anyidea he was there until the last minute and with a flame up against his right side had no where to go. You are right it may cause some carry over to game 2 but it wasn't a bad move just bad luck.
