The Dallas Stars are #2 in the NHL. They have two of the top scorers in the Western Conference playing on their #1 line, one of the best defenders the game has known, the greatest American player, and an elite goalie. Why does no one care about them? I realize Dallas is a football town. I also realize that the Mavericks and Rangers will always get more coverage than the Stars in Dallas, but the Stars aren't even getting covered by hockeybuzz. There is no Dallas Stars blogger, there seems to be little fan support for the Stars on hockeybuzz and in the AAC, and frankly it sucks. They deserve better than this. The Stars are playing inspired hockey these days which makes me proud to have stuck around with them through the dark days of the acquisition of Mattias Norstrom. From this day forward whether anyone reads it or not I'm going to make sure Dallas gets some credibility for the work they are doing.
My name is Josh Lile, and I've had enough of watching my team get ignored.
thank you finally...ill be there with you,i was wondering the sam thing(blogger),ill put blogs up with you, cause i want to talk about them.
You have my support. I have been visiting Hockeybuzz less and less because there is never any Dallas Stars supporters or news. I would have to say that here in Texas there is hardly any love my most favorite team in ALL sports. What a bummer. Keep it up and keep it coming.
Josh, It's too bad your team is getting more credit. They clearly deserve it, and personally, I'm kind of surprised they're not getting any coverage in Dallas based on their success. I hate to make this another "North vs. South" argument, but it does show the CLEAR difference in hockey interest between places like Canada, Buffalo, and Detroit
and places like Dallas. Hockey is all that's talked about up here. I have family and friends in Canada and visit their often, and I can tell you that the general feel around Buffalo REALLY is Canadian-like in its support of the game of hockey. we live and breathe hockey
I play in a beer league way down here in Austin, TX. Almost everyone I play with is from up north. Did you know that Texas has the most professional (minors included) hockey teams than any other state? It helps that we are as big as all of the New England states put together. GO STARS!
and that's what made 1999 so, so tough. All that being said, I wish you guys the best of luck heading forward
btw--Vote Hillary next March (spread the word) and sorry this got broken up; it's not letting me post much at one time.
It's like this almost everywhere, Josh. The Preds are tied for 6th in the West, and the people in Nashville would rather have SEC basketball or Titans off-season football talk. It's beyond comprehension.
I agree, I think it clearly does show a divide between the north and south. With Cowboy season seemingly being year round now theres no room for the Stars. They're on the same level as Arena Football now. That arrorgant shit Dale Hansen puts them down at each opportunity on ABC.The minor league teams thing makes sense, but with how bad the ice used to be in Reunion Arena I can't imagine how much it sucks in West Texas.I can understand the Nashville thing to a certain extent. I mean here when the Cowboys are going the Mavericks and Stars both get ignored. SEC basketball is unfortunately going to over shadow them. I love football, but all this football offseason crap needs to stop over shadowing actual competitive games.
