How many times has Naslund used this lame quote in past?

"They wanted it more than we did," Canucks captain Markus Naslund said. "They came out hard and we didn't respond to them at all.
Alfie would not talk like this. Neither would Sundin, Saku, or any other self-respecting hockey captain. The point is that Markus cannot captain by example, because he's not the kind of player that can go end to end and make that big play -- carry the team on his back -- and when it comes to words, he's more readily able to point out that other teams are playing better than his. Well duh, they beat the Canucks.
How about some -- "We need to do this better. We can play better and we will, type of talk?" And less of the no sh!t sherlock rhetoric.
It's probably not within him to do so, which means that AV has to come out and point them out. I don't think Mitchell can say much either right now because as much as we all love him, he's not a table pounder, he can only do so much. Kesler is still a kid. B-Mo and Ohlund are left, but both are kind of soft spoken.
I think Ohlund could step up but somehow I cannot imagine him doing the closed door rally, self-reflection, speech. Actually they all need an Obama speech or KG rant. Yes We Can. Why Not Me?
Yes the Canucks can play better. And every player should be asking himself why they are not playing better RIGHT NOW?
Who knows what goes on behind closed doors, but we all know Naslund is not a talker.
You'd certainly like to see your captain provide some answers instead of questions. I think I'd rather have a more pro-active captain that would smash skulls in between periods vs one that would come out and admit to being outworked and outplayed. You know you're being outplayed when it happens, so notice it and take responsibility. There isn't an excuse for being outworked consistently in pro sports.
