My attempt at a comedic view of the Sundin Saga, might as well do something to pass the time, so read this:

A Doctor paces the hallway of a transplant ward of a hospital. In his hands, a heart, it shows some wear, but can clearly still get the job done. There is a long list of possible patients to accept this heart, but 3 stand out above the rest. In 3 separate rooms, lie 3 patients, each needing that heart to live, and trive.

In Room 1, a patient who, after years struggling to get its old heart to produce needs this heart to live, this patient is willing to spend what ever it takes to get this heart, and has offered the doctor a large sum of money for the transplant.

In Room 2, a patient who’s current heart wasn’t that bad, but feel they need a new heart to get over that hill, even without the new heart, the patient can live a normal heart, but with the new heart can excell to new height for a very special anniversary.

In Room 3, a lifelong friend of the doctor, whom recently have had a bit of a disconnect and the doctor did not much appreciate the treatment he had received from his friend, however, because of the strong bond between doctor and patient, the doctor feels obligated towards this patient. Without the heart the patient is sure to suffer and always live under the scrutiny that if only he had treated the doctor better, he would have a better shot of receiving the heart.

The doctors final option is to decide if he can really even do the transplant, he has been providing heart for years with little return. He knows patients 1 and 2 have the best chance for some return out of the heart, but can’t get over letting patient 3 die. The doctor also sees not doing the transplant as an option, thinking that no matter what he chooses he will be hailed as a hero by some, and a villain by others.

The doctor has been outside the rooms for quite some time, each patient anxiously waiting a decision, at one point, the doctors nurse will come to the patients with what appeared to be a deadline, however this day passed, and nothing. With these 3 patients awaiting the heart, the other, cheaper, less efficient body parts are being snatched up by other patients, completing their bodies, and preparing for the rest of their lives. However, these 3 patients, still lay, on life support awaiting a decision, from a doctor, who can’t seem to make up his mind.

Please Dr.Mats, make up your mind soon, you are holding the collective heart of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and the rest of the NHL world in your hands.
