The Sabres are coming off a convincing 7-1 win against a lackluster, DiPietro-less New York Islanders team, though a pro hockey team nonetheless who was embarassed on their home ice and there's no excuse for that.

The Rangers are coming off, well, one of their best starts in franchise history. 5-0 out of the gate ties their best all-time feat, and with a win tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden, they'll rewrite the Blueshirt record books.

It's Dmitri Kalinin and Chris Drury against their old buddies. Kalinin and Drury are great, but they're no all-stars. The Sabres have competed well against this Rangers team in the past, and they'll compete with them tomorrow. It will likely be a close affair.

Ryan Miller is well-rested, as Patrick Lalime got the nod on the Island. Henrik Lundqvist will be ready too, and his questionable knee has held up just fine thus far.

It's a taste of playoff hockey in October. Can you think of a juicier match-up for Oct. 15?

They're the only teams in the Eastern Conference who have yet to suffer a loss. Even those all-too-talked-about Montreal Canadiens lost to this very Sabres team.

San Jose, Minnesota, and Phoenix are the remaining undefeateds out west.

New York is great - and they are for real, and will easily make the playoffs this year - but I say tomorrow the Sabres snatch victory from the Rangers with a heart-filled, gritty, defense-first effort. 3-2 Buffalo is my prediction. In overtime.

I think that if Miller can match Lundqvist's play, this will be a real match between the goalies, similar to the Sabres' opener against Montreal.The only worry I've got is the fact that Hecht is officially out for two weeks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3643833), so Macarthur has got to step up big time. It seems like Matt Ellis is in, too. I don't know anything about him, but the Sabres have got to be able to roll all four lines consistently like they've been doing in the past.

Lets just hope that this team did not get too full of themselves after scoring 7 last game. If they can stick to their defensive gameplan I like their chances against anyone. Rangers are another tough test in this young season but I think they will come out on top. Sabres - 3 Rangers - 2

Rangers win 3-0. Kalinin is going to be motivated to be playing against his former team. I just don't think Buffalo has the depth on the blueline this year. Also I think that Buffalo is going to be coming into this game a little over confident being undefeated and just beating an AHL team in the Islanders 7-1. Rangers are home and have been highly motivated to play in front of the Garden Faithful. In the end it comes down to the goalie matchup and I am taking Henrik any day over Miller.

You speak big adwolf, like a fan of a team that is 5-0. But no way in this world that this game is 3-0. The Sabres are better than most teams you've played so far (Tampa twice? I mean Come On!). It will be a much closer affair. Think 3-2, 4-3 in that range.But in fairness, I could definitely see the Rangers come away with the 2 points - in front of the home crowd like you say.

Its not everyday your team is 5-0 going for a franchise record of 6-0. I agree that Tampa is not that good but c'mon Devils are a good team and a rival. Chicago is an up and coming team with great talent and if I am not mistaken a Philly team that is on the record to win the east. The Rangers are 5-0 because they have won games with hard work and execution on the power play and penalty kill. I just have a feeling that Hank is going to get his first shutout of the season 2night. Just a gut feeling but I could be wrong. Either way I have Vanek on my fantasy team so I hope he has a break out season with you guys just hope its not 2night. lol Good luck its a long season no matter the outcome 2night I expect both these teams to make the Playoffs with maybe even playing each other and Drury returning the favor to you guys when he scored with 7 seconds to go in game 5 against us.

Oh pft, Vanek HAD his breakout season and he continues to play excellent. In his rookie year, he went 43-41-84 and 36-28-64 last season.And I could probably count the number of times I've seen Lindy Ruff actually look happy after a win on one hand. I don't really think Sabres have ever been the boasting type after any blowout with Ruff as coach.Also, a shutout for either team isn't going to happen, unless it's a 1-0 OT win. You are good, almost too good with your predictions MT. If it wasn't for a deflection, it woulda been Millsy with the shutout! :) Go Sabres! What was that again about our Blueline? Oh, right? Vastly improved was what I think should have been said. Dang.

Sabres outplayed us in every aspect and def out hustled us. The effort was just not there last night from the Rangers. Kaleta is a little puss running mara time and time again. Tell him to take that little visor off next time. Atleast Vanek is the one who scored twice. He is on my fantasy team. Yea your defense was textbook last night. They put on a clinic. I eat my words good luck the rest of the season Buffalo fans.
