8-3-3 19pts H(4-2-1) A(4-1-2)
Week 4 started great and then got ugly. 1-1-1 with Miller starting all 3. He started the week with shutout and it all went downhill from there. Our guys decided to revert to their lazy defensive play of last year and it cost them. One can say that Lalime should have started one of the back to back games but I do not think it would have mattered with the way the team played.
The good news for the week is we picked up 3 more points in the standings and still sit at the 4th position in the East.
According to HB fantasy point production:
1st star: Ryan Miller 53 pts
2nd star: Jason Pominville 31 pts
3rd star: Thomas Vanek 23 pts
Underachievers of the week.
Mair/Numminen 3 pts
Paille 2 pts
Stafford 1 pt
Thomas Vanek slowed up this week on his blistering pace. Only 1G this week putting him at 12G in 14 GP. Still good enough for 1rst in the NHL but he has Semin and Parise hot on his heels with 11 each. Can he keep his lead this week? Miller slid in the rankings this week with 2 poor showings. 5th in GAA and 6th in Sv%.
Upcoming games:
Wednesday vs St. Louis(5-7-1)11pts(1-3-1 on the road)
Friday vs Columbus(7-6-2)16pts(2-4-1 on the road)
Saturday @ Pittsburgh(8-4-2)18pts(4-2-1 at home)
Notable no shows in the point column this week:
Stafford 0 pts and 1 shot
Gaustad 0 pts, 2PM, 2 shots
Stat of the week:
Rivet/Kotalik -2
Hecht/Paille +1
Stat of the year:
Tim Connolly - 4pts in 4GP - But can he stay on the ice?
Stats say we need 94 pts for a playoff spot:
19 down, 75 to go
Week 4 brought us Hecht back in and Ellis clearing waivers. A shutout and some bad defense. What will week 5 bring?
Hopefully week 5 will bring us 3 wins and a TON of hard work from the boys. Their recent trend has me concerned but not panicked - yet.
