Here is a piece that was just posted in the Denver Post.

It is about Granato's second stint as the coach of the Avalanche. It sparked quite a bit of conversation in the Denver Post site, and if read I imagine that Av's fans here will talk quite a bit.
Personally I believe this team is a better than .500 team, but you can't be that with .250 management. Granato may be a great head coach, just not in Denver. Been there far too long, and reality is that his voice is not likely heard. This piece says that he is honest, which is good, but he also has to be able to motivate. Sometimes that requires a shoe in the butt of a player who isn't performing. The players seem too comfortable with him, like he is one of the guys.
Hope this article can spark some discussion here as well.
I'm not sold yet with Granato, but at the same time I don't think we should fire him yet. During the '03 season he didn't do to well, but we still made the playoffs. Not to mention quite a few of the superstars we had on the team had the worst seasons of their careers (Selanne, Kariya, Forsberg till that point). He was left with a quickly shrinking roster, and not much in the minors to work with. I still have faith we will make the playoffs this year. The way things are going, we might just be in a contest for the division title, if the other teams go down like the Oilers and we keep our scoring up.
Give it up, I love the avalanche, and I support the team, but theres no way we are taking the division title, Granato needs to go, hes had a second chance, and hasnt performed with it to most peoples satisfaction, hes welcome to stay on as assitant again, but he should not lead the team, Call in Torts! I think we have a great team, but a team that needs better coaching strategies, Quineville was also a good coach, but not for what we needed, Granato is a step in the right direction in terms of his coaching style, but we need a bigger step, we need to bring someone in, that can make our players, specifically the younger ones, stay focused all game, and fight the way they can when they try.
