What it all Comes Down to!

As I sit here watching the Avs play the Ducks I think I just watched a team lose a game simply because it looks like they don't care. It looks like they are deflated and defeated already. The work ethic is not there, they don't go to the areas where they might be punished for breaking the puck out of the defensive zone.

There is absolutely no transition game. The forwards can't move through the neutral zone, they get clogged up at their own blue line.

I am not a person who calls for things to get blown up often, but I think it is time for a serious change. Start with Giguere. Other than signing Smyth he hasn't done much for this team. Granato should be next, sorry Tony. He hasn't shown that he can lead a group of guys from the bench.

For many years our team relied heavily on free agency, and then even bigger trades to get what we wanted. With the CBA those days are now over. The Avs draft well, but tend to trade some of those assets away as well. Tanguay being an example of losing home grown talent. Mr. Kroenke if you want to keep your cash cow investment in the Avs strart shaking some things up please.

If they come back and win tonight, I may digress. That however is very doubtful.

Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi. Remember his name. It's who the Avs should be drafting in next year's draft. A playmaking LW like Peter Forsberg.

Will look him up. Central scouting's report recently came out, but I have not been up to date in reading all of their work. Maybe we should propose a "dream draft" and send it to the Avs management.

That sounds nice. Trade some of our guys for more picks. Sounds like a plan for the future.

We have a core of players. Stastny, Wolski, Liles are all signed for several years. Great starting point. If Budaj continues to play well, then there is a good chance he gets a deal. Not a monster of one, but a decent one. Next one to lock up is Hensick. He is proving to be another play-making center, and can truly handle the ice time he is handed. He has continued to build chemistry and hasn't looked horrible defensively either. Give him a good deal, will be a heck of a second line center behind the new face of the franchise. Smyth is locked up for a while, so leadership is there. Hannan is also locked up for a while, notice the A on his jersey now as well. Players have commented that he is a huge presence in the locker room.If they can keep Leopold for fairly cheap, do it. I remember him on the PP during Calgary's run, he is good, just hasn't been given a chance due to injury. Let Salei go, keep drafting a steady set of D-Men. The weakness is still overall in goal, and on the wing. Hejduk and Sakic won't be here forever so drafting high might be necessary. It's time to start looking for snipers, don't trade for them, draft for them. We need a young finisher to play with Stastny. We will also need a Luke Schen type player to fill the Foote void that will be there some day.

How is Tucks doing for you guys?

He has a few goals, looked lost a couple times. He gave/took quite a hit last night that probably will have him in the press box for a long time.

Thanks for the update! I miss his heart but not his play.
