So I was 7 for 8 in 1st round predictions (Sharks....tsk tsk tsk). Not only did they screw up my predictions but my playoff pools are done!
On to Round 2:
Boston (1) vs. Carolina (6) - This will be a great series. I like Carolina but Boston, after disposing of the Canadiens in 4 straight are riding high with confidence - I'll go
Bruins in 6.
Washington (2) vs. Pittsburgh (4) - Much will be made of the Sid vs. Ovie feud but in reality these two will get down to winning 4 and moving on. This will also be a great series but advantage to Pittsburgh in experience and goaltending -
Pens in 6.
Detroit (2) vs. Anaheim (8) - What a series this will be! Can Hiller carry the Ducks through Detroit? No. Red Wings are in full playoff mode and while Columbus may have been a walk, Anaheim will be tougher.
Red Wings in 7.
Vancouver (3) vs. Chicago (4) - I despise both teams. This will be a physical series, no doubt but you have to give the edge to the 'nucks with Bobby Lou in net.
Canucks in 5.
Enjoy the 2nd round!
find it hard to disagree with you on any real point here... I feel like the Caps series could be closer... especially with Varlamov playing so well and coming off a stunning turnaround over the Rangers.Also... smart money is on Boston but I can't help but feel something special about this Hurricanes team... worth a dark horse bet or two...
i think varlomov gets exposed. nucks in 5? is their offense that good? better than Calgary's?
I have to disagree with your assesment of the Canucks... they are not that GOOD. The Blackhawks will absolutely hammer the crap out of that team... Blackhawks in 5 sounds much more plausible...
The Sharks should have to be called the "Ill tempered Seabass" until they play like Sharks in a post season series!
Oilderek: The Canucks /Hawks series should be a good one. Either team could win. But you show your ignorance of the Canucks when you claim the Hawks will "hammer the crap" out of them. No team has done that this year...although many have tried.
rdfred: You have taken far too literally... im not only referring to the physical aspect of the series... but the relelntless forecheck and backcheck of the Hawks... im not even a Blackhawks fan.
oilderek, the last 2 games that Canucks nad Hawks have played the Canucks won cumulatively 11-3. They dominate the face off circle against them all year which means the Hwks young team is then playing without the puck (not their forte) and the Canucks defense and goaltending is greater than that of hawks. These are all points I could have said before the "rusty" Canucks won yesterdays game. Which they dominated save 14 minutes in the 3rd period.
I really like the Canucks to take it this year, yes Canukcs fans be happy. Great Job buddy.
