With the Predators 3 to 2 win, they now have won their first two games of the season. The top line of Arnott/Sullivan/Hornqvist at times dominated the play. Hornqvist digging the puck out of the corners and getting in front of the net, Sully's vision and passing, Arnott with the bomb. Tremendous play by that line.
Notables from the game:
Hornqvist (A-) - Really good game from the youngster. Got in front of Anderson on Arnott's goal and got an assist. Then scored the tying goal and go ahead goal by being in front of the net. Something most Preds fans say has been missing since Hartnell left a few years back. He was a plus 3. The only negative in a great game was the interference penalty leading to Colorado's second goal.
Arnott (A) - The captain was leading by example. 8 SOG, 1 goal and two glorious chances which didn't even count as shots. One where the puck was on the goal line and he just missed it with his stick. Led all forwards in ice time and was a plus 3.
Suter (A) - Great shot to setup Hornqvist's first goal and got a second assist on Hornqvist's second goal. Good defensively and it shows with a plus 3.
Ellis (B+) - Made the big saves when he had to including a break away on Duchene late in the 2nd period. Stopped 22 shots and gave the Preds a chance to win.
Fans (A) - Great job by the fans tonight. Another standing ovation when the Preds needed it with under 5 minutes to play. After that the Avalanche didn't muster much in offense as the Preds took it to them. Kudos to the fans.
Next game at home on Saturday. Tickets are getting scarce!
