The sooner, the better. The message is as follows:
Swap Souray's negotiating rights to San Jose for Hannan's. Straight up if you have to. And do it now, while there's still time to sign him. Hurry!

IMO, EVEN IF WE OFFER 6M, HE WOULD STILL LEAVE. HE OBVEOUSLY WANTS TO, HE WOULD OF BEEN TRADED BY NOW, AT THE SAME OR A BIT HIGHER THAN MARKOV. AT THIS POINT, DO THIS TRADE, IF NOT, THOSE OF MARLEAU... DO IT BOB!!!
My reasoning is, Hannan is the type of guy we need. Also, he'll cost a hell of a lot less than Souray. Both hit the open market on July 1, and we know the Sharks want (and could use) Souray. Give them a head start on Sheldon, and we can have a head start on Hannan. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Hannon is not going to go for as cheap as your think... Do you want to pay over or around 3 mil for a stay at home defensive defenceman?
Hannan's looking for A LOT of money now, and he isn't even as good as he used to be. He's been really inconsistent over the past few seasons.
i would rather pay 3-4 mil for Hannan than 6 mil for Souray.
I agree, with the youngsters moving up in the organization, if we have some good stay at home defence, we can leave the scoring to the forwards ;)
