A little while back I completed my mock Draft and now that the draft is less than a week away I thought I'd look back and see if there were any changes. Here is the Old Draft order (note this was before standings were final)

1 New York Islanders C John Tavares
2 Colorado Avalanche D Victor Hedman
3 Tampa Bay Lightning D Jared Cowen
4 Atlanta Thrashers C Matt Duchene
5 Los Angeles Kings D Oliver Ekman-Larsson
6 Phoenix Coyotes C Evander Kane
7 Ottawa Senators D Ryan Ellis
8 Toronto Maple Leafs C Bryaden Schenn
9 Dallas Stars LW M. Svensson-Paajarvi
10 Minnesota Wild C Scott Glennie
11 Edmonton Oilers D Simon Despres
12 Buffalo Sabres RW Jordan Schroeder
13 Nashville Predators C Nazem Kadri
14 Anaheim Ducks C Jacob Josefson

New Draft Order

4 Atlanta Thrashers C Evander Kane
5 Los Angeles Kings D Dmitri Kulikov
6 Phoenix Coyotes C Bryaden Schenn

14 Florida Panthers D Ryan Ellis

There were many reasons for the changes, fist off needs have or will changed based on current speculation.

LA might well opt for the big D-man Kulikov with Jack Johnson's status up in the air. That being said I truly believe that LA will trade their pick.

While Ottawa needs a puck moving D-man with MSP on the board they will not pass him over. They can garnish a top pairing puck mover when the move Dany Heatley.

I think the Leafs want Schenn or Kane, that being said if they pick in the seven hole Cowan will prove to be a monster with Schenn for years to come.

With Joe Neiwendyk taking over in Big D I can see him going to little Jordan Schroeder out of the NCAA.

We only have one week to find out what the real deal is. I for one am hoping that I am dead wrong and that the Leafs land Kane, Schenn or with any luck Duchene. I would also like to see them pick up a later pick and get Kassian.

Thanks
