That quote comes from another obvious thug, Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows. It was his response to the fierce slash he made on the back of Dallas Stars forward Brendan Morrow's knee, in the final minutes of game 6. The slash caused a twinge in a nerve and caused Morrow to limp off the ice and miss the rest of the game. I'm just curious why Burrows would be so op...
Did I say happy?...I meant ecstatic, elated, over-joyed! I really hate to make excuses, or have to include the officiating in any writing...so thank-you so much, Mr. Gallagher, for your article...it is 100%, spot on! In fact, I used the phrase "phantom call" seconds after the penalty, as well as in a comment to my new best friend's blog (What a friggin joke--Flyer...
I know I said I was not going talk about the officiating any longer, BUT...my dearest friend and fellow North American, Luongo07, continues to call me out and accuse me of not researching. (well, at least most of that last sentence is true!) So, as I set out to get the full scoop on the officiating in the Stars/Canucks series, I realized it was a much bigger issue than j...
What an incredible start to the Stanley Cup Finals! Game 1 had everything but overtime...numerous gigantic hits, acrobatic saves, some pretty goals, and some not so pretty goals. Though there were way too many suspect penalty calls, this game never lacked intensity. It was back and forth most of the game...even during the power plays. Like every other team the Ducks ha...
MORE OBSERVATIONS PHILADELPHIA ON NOTICE GIVE ME A BREAK The other day when the NHL put Philly on notice, it really made me laugh. I mean, who are they kidding? Come on, they love every minute of this! They love publicity, whether it is bad or good. Is the NHL really upset with Philadelphia? Or are they rubbing their hands with glee? Seriously, you reall...
DIVING IN THE NHL: IS IT A PROBLEM? The idea for today’s blog came from a friend of mine in the Chat room that I visit whose name is Brent: Diving: is it a problem, and can something be done about it? What is the infraction Diving? Well I downloaded the NHL rulebook and found the infraction under 64.1, and I quote (and yes I don’t have much of ...
Last night, the Flyers did not play a good game. They lost to the Florida Panthers 3-2. It was an inconsistent effort, where in the first period, the Flyers had energy and played well. However, the second period was a different story. They gave up two goals that period and they played terrible. Usually, the second period is the period where the Flyers play their best, but ...

Suggestion to the NHL

After watching the NHL playoffs, I am seeing a disturbing trend that is rewarding players for unsportsmanlike conduct. This trend is players fabricating penalties. This is just as bad as players diving. During game 2 in Pittsburgh, there were 2 blatant unsportsmanlike plays performed by Pittsburgh players that lead directly to powerplays. The first call was a high stic...

Who Complains More?

Crosby or Flyer Fans? Just for fun, I like to read the opposing team's blog and comments during the playoffs. It helps me to get a true hatred for the other team's fans going! I am kidding of course. I have been alive too long to HATE any other team's fans or even any of the other teams at this point...although as players go...Scott Hartnell is tough to like...whe...
Can the National Hockey League really expect it's teams to take it seriously when it says things like "no message sending" and "no confrontations with fans" when it doesn't even act on most of the dirty things that happen on the ice? Ok, yes, they suspended Daniel Carcillo for his "hit" on Max Talbot (I still question whether or not that was intentional), and Andre Roy ...

Let it Go

I don't know if I am more frustrated with the Devils or the officials from game 3. The Devils were graced with 3 PPs in the first 7 minutes and the PP could have put the game out of reach early, but it only struck once. On the road the first goal is key, but it made no difference in this game because the Flyers always seem to score on the PP when they need it. The Flyers s...
One thing has become dreadfully apparent with this Jet team. They have shown an unbelieveable lack of discipline. With 12 penalty kills against Buffalo, the Jets gave the Sabres a gift-wrapped win, especially when your PK is as poor as the Jets" is. They missed an opportunity during this road trip to post a winning record despite having many regulars out of the line up....
