"My Take On The Preds"

Here is a quote from tsn.ca's (http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/feature/?fid=549) power rankings.

Chris Mason opened the season with two outstanding games and has struggled ever since. Perhaps it's time to take a step back and give backup Dan Ellis some work.

Okay...I get that the Preds have lost five in a row and that Mason had some shaky games but he looked pretty good in the Ducks game and played great Saturday in San Jose. This is ridiculous to think that they should give Ellis some work. Mason is the number one no if and or butts. Here is the case of a person compiling the list looking only at box scores and not knowing what is happening on the ice.

I am not even arguing the point that they have the Preds ranked 28th. Right now they deserve that ranking because they've lost five in a row. Five in a row! Are they a better team than what they are showing? Without a doubt they are! But until they start showing the rest of league by stringing together some wins they will be pulling up the rear in all of these rankings.

So...a big fat juicy Crotch Bang to TSN for not doing enough research to know that Mason is playing good hockey right now and still deserves the #1 spot.

I'm not drawing the same conclusion to that statement as you are. The writer isn't saying give the backup the #1 job. The writer is saying give the backup some work. Just like in Philly, Biron is playing out of his mind, yet we are still going to give the backup some work this week.

You are right Snotbubbles (nice name by the way!) Ellis got work in three games last week when Mason was pulled...that is more work than they planned on giving him in the first three weeks of the season total!

With Aebischer being on waivers I wonder if the Preds make a run at him...for $600k he might be nice insurance should something happen to Mason. Might keep Mason motivated as well to know he has a legit NHL goalie behind him instead of Ellis.

Your Blog had very little to do with Power Rankings.

the power rankings are bang on this time. Especially at that number 1 spot.

MJL...It had to do with a comment within the power rankings. Which makes it about power rankings. Let's not get bogged down on details. I guess I was misleading in my blog title...maybe a better name would have been 'why comments contained within the most recent TSN.ca power rankings have me concerned over the fact that Mason is not getting the respect he deserves as a number one goalie.' Yes! That would have been a better blog title...thanks for reading guys and keep the comments coming!
