We will be relentless with the rock. We will dominate time of possession with the rock. If we lose the rock, we will be like honey badgers trying to get it back. We will have the highest level of compete. We will run the most offensive plays you've ever seen. And you will tire out long before we do.
The rock could be a puck or a football. The team could be the Edmonton Oilers or the Philadelphia Eagles. And the coach could be Dallas Eakins or Chip Kelly.
By the way, if you've never seen the 5 minute YouTube mini documentary on the honey badger, you really should. You'll truly understand why that term has gotten popular.
When Chip Kelly signed on to make the move from Oregon to Philly, the MSM jumped to the forefront of the doubting Thomas parade. After all, there are countless examples of college success not translating in the bigs. JaMarcus Russell was a 1st overall pick. Tim Tebow won the Heisman. Ryan Leaf was Ryan Leaf. But sometimes a theory is so sound, so brilliant, so revolutionary, so iconoclastic that it has to work. The only problem is execution, at least until opposing defences have a chance to adapt.
There is no reason why Dallas Eakins' strategy won't work. If the Oilers are the fittest team in the league, if they dominate in time of possession, and if they're the most ferocious backcheckers in the NHL, the wins will come in bunches. It is a winning formula, and they have the personnel to do it. The team simply has to buy in, and Eakins' emotionless removal of all entitlement is plenty of motivation for anyone. I don't see him being much of a bluffer. If he says he has it, he has it. Fold or lose everything to that man.
The only problem is that Dubnyk still sucks. Hiller or Miller by October 2014 please.
Dude,You had me right up until the last 2 sentences....then you lost all credibility. Miller or Hiller over Dubey??? put down the crack pipe. Why would anyone want that over paid primadonna Miller. Hiller would be ok but his health is an issue. Dubey will be fine. Watch what he does with a Defense in front of him and less shots per game.
"Primadonna Miller?"Ryan Miller is FAR from a primadonna. He is a proven leader and a proven elite goaltender in the NHL, and Olympic play. He has had horrible defense and a tremendous lack of scoring in front of him.He single handedly wins games by himself...and he learned how to do this from one of the best goalies the world has ever seen, Dominik Hasek.Edmonton would be lucky to get him, but what would they give up?It is actually quite hilarious you would NOT want Ryan Miller on your team.
lol
If Buffalo fans love him so much....KEEP HIM. Oilers want nothing to do with him, his attitude or his massive contract....
