If Stevie Y wants to prove to Stamkos he is serious about winning a cup he has to show it now, and there is no better trade bail that the enigmatic Drouin. Every team in the league is going to kick tire's on this kid. Here is a thought on how Stevie Y could show Stammer he is serious, save a bit of cap space next year to sign Stammer and take a solid run at the cup:
To Toronto:
Jonathan Drouin-Adam Erne-Valleri Fillipula-Erik Condra
Drouin you already know, Erne is a power forward that will translate well as a third line grinding winger in the NHL. Fillipula and condra are both overpaid and dieing a death in Tampa. Fillipula has 2 more years at 5 mill on his contract and condra three years at 1.25. So there is some salary dumping here.
To Tampa Bay: Tyler Bozak-JVR-P.A Parenteau Bozak is having a better year than Fillipula and is 2 years younger with 800k less in Salary. JVR is one of the biggest steals in the NHL contract wise and would destroy the league alongside Stammer. PA is just a bit more offense for the lightning which are a bit starved for goals.
To make the numbers work you would have to wait till close to the deadline and maybe add a Dman exchange of Polak-Coburn as Coburn is 4.5 vs polak 2.75 both UFA at the end of the season. Tampa adds some quick offensive help and decent contracts and Toronto gets some prospective talent. As great as Tampa's D is it could use some physicality, and its already deep.
