I dont know about you Oiler fans out there but I just can't waite to see Cogliano and Shremp play. I wonder how long it's going to take for them to make the team and see some NHL action. Cogliano reminds me of a young Kariya. The speed that he saktes with the puck is amazing. Shremp seems to me to have hands of gold this kid should be a welcome addition to the oilers in terms of scoring. I almost forgot Nillson he scored for the oilers last year and his attitude seems top notch. I'm just so excited to see these kids play. Oh yeah and Omara and Gangne the oilers look good for years to come. Last year in Winnipeg I went to see the Oilers VS the Coyotes at the MTS center. It was a pre-season game and I was really impressed with dubnyk. He got a shut out that game and his size in net was intimidating. Reminds me of Louongo. He seemed more then ready when I seen him but i'm guessing that he will one day in the near future replace Rolly so they must want him to play alot instead of back him up.
Alot of people are doom and gloom about the oilers but this franchise is really going places. In the next few years they are going to be similar to the ducks I believe.
schremp is overrated by basicly all oiler fans. i doubt he even gets a sniff of nhl action with the ahl affiliate and the poor season he had last year and the off season surgery. i can't wait to see the ahl team next season. then we'll have a better idea of what we have for prospects and who might be ready.
Mud: not sure 'overrated' is the right term... how about 'excited'? I agree though... tremendous talent, but poor defensive zone play and the the surgery is going to delay his NHL career probably for another year. Cogliano too is probably a year away. Nillson is the guy Oiler fans should be watching this year... on this team, he has a legit shot at centring the 3rd line, and may well finish the year on the 2nd line...
Having forwards is great but do the Oiler's have any good Defensive prospects? They could use some. Mabye they could trade some of their abundance of talent upfront for some of Ottawa's Defensive prospects, we seem to have many of those and no great prospect in the form of a forward. We have Foligno and Hennesy but they're more role players then future stars.
The Oilers defence prospects are equaly as good with Taylor Chorney who played on the top defense unit for the US at World Juniors last year. Jeff Petry 2007 US College Player of the year beating out James vanRiemsdyk . Alex Plante chosen in the first round this year.
Oil should most def. give there young stars a chance THIS season.
