Devils 5, Thrashers 1
Zach Parise scored his 30th goal of the season, as the Devils rolled over the Southeast division bottom-feeders in the Atlanta Thrashers. Parise's 30th goal of the season came on the powerplay, and the young winger continues to get better and better. John Madden and Brian Gionta scored shorthanded goals for the Atlantic Division leading Devils. There were also some odd occurances in this game. The 41 year old Brendan Shanahan dropped the gloves with Atlanta enforcer Eric Boulton. I don't think anyone expected Shanny to drop the gloves in that fashion, eh? Colby Armstrong scored the lone goal for Atlanta.
Sabres 3, Canadiens 2
Ryan Miller stopped 35 Habs shots, as the Sabres defeated their division rival in Buffalo. Miller was strong in this game, as he made 15 of his 35 saves in the first period. Tim Connolly, Jaroslav Spacek, and Nathan Paetsch scored for Buffalo. Saku Koivu and Roman Hamrlik scored for the Habs, while Carey Price made 19 saves.
Penguins 4, Blue Jackets 1
Kris Letang scored two goals for the Pens, as they defeated the Jackets in Pittsburgh. Letang, who hasn't been able to get on the board that much this season finally broke through with a power play tally in the second period to give the Pens the 1-0 lead. Later in that period, Letang struck again and gave Pittsburgh a commanding 3-0 lead. Sidney Crosby added an empty net goal late in the third period, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 33 saves for the Pens. Fedor Tyutin scored a power play goal, and Wade Dubielewicz stopped 21 shots, as he was in net for the prized young rookie Steve Mason, who will most likely get the start against the Sharks on Saturday night.
Predators 2, Wild 0
Jason Arnott scored his 350th career NHL goal, and Dan Ellis made 22 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Preds beat the Wild. Two nights earlier, the Wild shutout the Ducks at the Xcel Energy Center, but the Wild got re-payed the favor by getting shutout against Nashville.
Stars 10, Rangers 2
What a wacky game this was tonight between the Rangers and Stars. The Stars scored six third period goals to put up a big 10 spot on the Rangers. James Neal and Mike Ribeiro scored twice for Dallas, and Matt Niskanen had three helpers as well. For the Rangers, Nikolai Zherdev scored twice, but Steven Valiquette got rocked. Amazingly, he gave up all 10 Stars goals in this game. To be honest with you, I can't remember the last time a goalie has given up 10 goals in a game. By the time a goalie gives up their 5th or 6th goal, they get pulled, but not this time.
The rangers blow and will miss the playoffs.
Devils will at least make it to the confrence finals ..i have so much confedence in this team right now its unbelievable..Just wait till Brodeur is back an big Lou adds a top 2 Dman..
