First off... Initial thoughts are that there were a lot of winners in this years draft and not a whole lot of losers.
#1 Winner - Tampa Bay - but that is obvious
#2 Winner - LA - Doughty and the trade up to get Colten Teubert at the 12 spot makes their D very scary in the coming years.
Teams that I thought did very well for themselves aside from those teams is Toronto grabbing Luke Schenn. I was kinda on the fence about it at first because the picks they gave up to move up as I would have been perfectly happy with Wilson at #7, but Schenn is a BEAST. Good job. Hopefully Toronto can get some more picks.
I'm not too sure why everyone is jumping on the Islanders for their moves. They obviously had Bailey lined up and felt that getting those extra picks was better to build a much more stable group of young players coming up. I think they did well.
Columbus did very well for themselves in my opinion. Umberger, Filitov and Luca Sbisa all in one evening. Good night for them. While some may think a 19th overall was alot to give for R.J. I think he will prove to be worth it this next season as he will be given more responsibility and ice time.
Oh and Phoenix! Olli, Tikhonov, Mikkel Boedker are all solid pick ups for them and they should make the playoffs this year.
Losers: Any team that has not picked yet for obvious reasons.
Florida - Traded Olli when i think they could have got more. Although they got some nice return on D, i think they could have gotten more. Does this also mean J.B is on the way out?
Lastly - NICOLAS DESCHAMPS I think he was really thinking he was going in the first round, and it must have been hard sitting there and no being pick especially with Detroit's final pick.
