"CARRY THE FLAG"
Columbus, OH • United States • 25 Years Old • Male
Well, the job's open. Who wants it? There are a slew of potentials, even a few that have been vocal (Craig Patrick, Bob Clarke). Ownership will begin the interview process within the week, and hopefully now that some teams have been eliminated, the search can be narrowed. Dave Taylor from LA and Craig Button, formerly of Calgary, are rumored to be the front-runners, and the last time a search like this began, it lasted 10 days before hiring Ken Hitchcock.

The owners in Columbus want a low-key, courteous guy who will put the team, not himself, first. In the next couple weeks, we could see a GM competition spread farther than Phoenix and Columbus, with playoff fallouts in Atlanta, Dallas and Nashville potentially leading to a few guys without jobs.

If the Jackets want the right guy, they'd better act quickly. Judging by the swift movement of the last major search, the right guy might be snatched off the market before the draft....and what would Columbus do without a professional guy to host the draft?

I think Jim Nill of Detroit is the best candidate but it seems like he would be impossible to get. One name I would stay away from is Bob Clarke.
