Earth to Nashville

This is no way a blog meant to bash Nashville fans, because quite honestly, they have more to cheer about than we do in Columbus. But, the lack of hockey knowledge by these people who shell out hundreds to see a playoff game is baffling. Last night, I was watching a tape of Game 5 between San Jose and Nashville. Patrick Marleau's second goal of the game gives the Sharks the lead with four minutes left, and the Preds fans boo. Hmm. (Hint: SJ carried the play in Nashville's end for almost a minute leading up to that goal) Second, with time winding down in regulation, Vokoun is pulled and the sixth attacker on. Again, Preds fans booed (scratches head). After a battle behind the net against Craig Rivet, a love tap to Peter Forsberg's stick leads to him dropping his stick and pouting to the referee as if his left hand was laying on the ice. This, again, queued the boo birds. It's called the playoffs- it's not a tightly-called mite game where running into the boards will draw a roughing penalty. Finally, to top it off, with 24.1 seconds left, Craig Rivet and Peter Forsberg are whistled for minor penalties...but it is announced that Rivet's is a double minor for interference and holding. At the time, it was a 6-on-4 advantage for Nashville after pulling Vokoun. For some reason, this brought the loudest showering of boos of the whole game. Needless to say, I'll be trying to figure out this one for a while.

There's nothing good to say about the Preds organization.

OK thanks for clearing that up- agreed that they're under the impression that everything "Forsberg" is good as gold. Too bad.

I never expect an expansion teams fans to come out and know the game immediately. That being said, here we are 9 years later and more often than not the Preds fans just don't get it. For the ones that do their are some big hills up ahead that could lead to the franchise leaving the city. While I would feel bad for the true fans they do have there, its impossible to let a team pull the rest of the league down because their city (no local ownership still and low corporate sales) is not backing the team.

I am glad someone finally is talking about this subject...As a Dallas STARS fan, and as a fan of Modano (one of greatest US born hockey players), I have to admit that the Fans in Nashville have ZERO CLASS...After Modano scored his record break goal, the fans were so disrespectful to him...And their excuse was because he had hit Tootoo on the back...Even their building didn't announce the record breaking goal...how sad...I know that there were some crazy things happening before the goal, but Nashville you have to show some class
