I am so confident that Bobby Ryan is NOT headed to Toronto that I will spend money on Habs merchandise should it come to pass.

SanJoseKaberle, Grabovski, Kulemin, and Schenn forThornton, Clowe, and Vlasicit helps both team but I am a dreamer too..lol
August 15, 2010 12:27 PM ET | Delete
Youve gotta be dreaming, but that's a nightmare. Thornton has ONE year left, so all we would be left with is a d-man not nearly as good as Kabs, and Ryan Clowe, and we'll have given up on three young players with potential. I'm not against trading any of them (including Schenn), but not for that terrible package
August 15, 2010 12:36 PM ET | Delete
Burke wants Grabovski gone and with Kadri knocking on the door and a full Year of Bozak Centre is set Thornton for Kaberle is a wash for me as they are both UFA'S next year anyways Kulemin for Clowe is even but we have the Banger so that leaves Schenn for Vlasic I agree that is a tough one and if SanJose was stupid enough which I dont think they are I would switch Komisarek for Schenn which would also give us more cap space and the Younger player again I dont see it happening anyways

I'm hopin for LA, simmonds would be a great addition...if we could get clowe though, i'd be satisfied. Im goin with san jose
August 15, 2010 1:13 PM ET | Delete
Hahaha that San Jose trade would be horrible for the Sharks. Vlasic>>Schenn You guys act like Vlasic is 30, he is only 23. Burke would accept that trade instantly. Grabovski does not have that much trade value and Clowe is included with Thornton? Give your head a shake.

I think Kaby will end up in Florida next to his buddy Mccabe. There is a very good chance that he will sign an extension which will make him more valuable. Maybe even Tampa to fill the Horton void.

No matter what happens, Leaf fans will probably scream they got ripped off. Ya cant please everybody. I just hope we get at least a 20 goal scorer in the deal.
August 15, 2010 2:45 PM ET | Delete
LA is no longer pursuing Kabs
August 15, 2010 8:18 PM ET | Delete
Sharktank: Vlasic and Schenn are both young, defensively gifted blueliners. Schenn provides a much more significant physical presence, but Vlasic is more cerebral with better distributing skills. It seems to be a toss-up between the two based on what style of play you prefer. To say that Vlasic (23) is heads and tails better than Schenn (20) is just as foolish as the reverse.

Toronto, Burke has become like a Leafs fan and is over-valuing his player. Top 6 F and 1st Rnd pick for 32 yr old with 1 yr left on his contract? Come on, be realistic! Unless he takes less, Kaberle will still be a Leaf

@mdp6725 - Horton was a Panther
August 15, 2010 9:22 PM ET | Delete
Well therein lies the issue with characterizing a "top-six" forward... is it a guy like Phil Kessel who can pot 40 goals? or is it a Dustin Byfuglien/Ryan Malone type who scores 20 goals and 40-ish points? If we're looking at a 40-50 point player here, then I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a high pick or prospect with said player for a 40-60 point blueliner.
August 15, 2010 9:24 PM ET | Delete
But if we're looking at Devin Setoguchi or Wayne Simmonds type who possibly have yet to hit their ceiling, then perhaps asking for a 1st round pick is looking for too much for a player that will likely be seeking the freedom to seek top dollars and ideal location for their twilight playing days.
