Soon the calendar will be turning to November and you should have a decent idea of how solid your roster is for the season. Last week, we urged you to load up on Canadiens, based on their favorable schedule. Hopefully you listened... Here is what you need to know as you set your fantasy hockey roster for week 4 (11/1 to 11/7):
Matchups
Teams with 2 Games: Calgary, Colorado, LA
Teams with 4 Games: Carolina, Chicago, NY Rangers, Philadelphia, Vancouver
It's a great week to stock up on those Hurricanes, and there are probably plenty available on your waiver. The Canes have four games this week, including 2 matchups with Florida. Your Flyers should also rebound this week with a four-game schedule, including home games against Carolina and the Rangers.
As for teams to avoid this week, Colorado probably won't be helping you much. With Anderson down and just two games on the radar with Dallas and Vancouver, those plus-minuses will be down and scoring will be sparse.
Who's Hot
Thomas Vanek (F-BUF)
After coming up blank in the first 4 games, Vanek has rebounded nicely. He has 7 points in his last 6 games, including 4 goals.
Andrei Kostitsyn (F-MON)
Kostitsyn has had 2 points in 4 of his last 5 games.
Sergei Gonchar (D-OTT)
5 assists in his last 5 games
Carey Price (G-MON)
Has won 5 of his last 6 starts and is down to a 2.32 GAA.
James Wisnieski (D-NYI)
Has a point or more in every game played this season. 5 in his last 2.
Daniel Alfredsson (F-OTT)
6 goals in his last 5 games.
Keith Yandle (D-PHO)
After a slow start, Yandle has goals in back-to-back games.
Who's Cold
Everything Toronto
After busting out of the gate, you're not getting much offensive production out of your Leafs right now.
Anti Niemi (G-SJ)
Niemi has lost 3 straight starts and has seen his GAA balloon to 4.50. Ouch.
Steve Downie (F-TB)
After a decent start, he's been limited to just 1 assist in his last 4 games.
Waiver Watch
Kyle Turris (F-PHO)
Turris was humbled a bit last season, but it looks like the demotion will help him in the long run. He's starting to heat up for the Coyotes, but don't expect an offensive explosion. Just keep him on your radar. He's out there in 80% of CBS leagues and 95% of Yahoo leagues.
Ryan Callahan (F-NYR)
Callahan is not known to be a fantasy stud, but he's hot right now and should be there for the taking. 6 points in his last 4 games. He's still available in 2/3 of CBS leagues.
Cody Franson (D-NAS)
Franson is starting to shine in Suter's absence. He has 3 points in his last 5 games. Only 7% of Yahoo leagues feature Franson in a lineup.
Marc Methot (D-COB)
With five assists in his last six games, Methot is starting to get noticed. As of today, he's only taken in 4% of CBS leagues and 1% of Yahoo leagues.
Andrew Ladd (F-ATL)
Ladd is leading the charge in Atlanta these days. He has 8 points in his last 6 games. He's available in the majority of leagues out there.
