#Update: Well looks like Stempniak will be out for 6 week now,
+ Kolanos will wear #8 for the flames!
In what seemed like a very strange event, the clock appeared to stop at 1.8 seconds as the Kings hammered away in the Columbus end and finally Drew Doughty managed to score a goal as the timer resumed.
What has everyone up in arms is the fact that the clock seemed to stay at 1.8 seconds for about 1 or 2 seconds. This is the sort of thing has us wondering about the integrity of the game. In an official blog Scott Howson shared the following:
"It is an amazing coincidence that with the Kings on a power play at STAPLES Center and with a mad scramble around our net in the dying seconds of the third period of a 2-2 hockey game that the clock stopped for at least one full second. I can only think of two ways in which this would have happened. Either there was a deliberate stopping of the clock or the clock malfunctioned."
"We will never know if we should have had one point or two points in the standings. What we do know is that we should not have had zero. Anyone who has competed at a high level of sports knows that when you put everything into a game, the result matters. And to have the result altered unfairly stings."
"In addition, this result matters to every other team in the Western Conference that is competing with Los Angeles for a playoff spot. We will never know if the Kings would have got the extra point in overtime or shootout, but they may not have. This extra point in the standings could have an enormous impact both competitively and economically. What if the Kings make the playoffs by one point or gain home ice advantage by one point? We could be talking about a team not making the playoffs and missing out on millions of dollars in playoff gates. No one can ever convince me that this result does not matter."
I assume there will be some sort of investigation launched into this matter, when you are struggling like the Flames are we need EVERY POINT and even 1 extra point hurts us. What do you think, was it a malfunction or was it the time keeper?
Well other then Cammi we haven't seen much in the way of important deals that affect us in the NHL but we have seen a number of moves made to shore up our AHL affiliate over the last little while.
1) Morrison was moved for prospect Brian Connelly,
2) for John Negrin was traded to the Jets for Akim Aliu,
3) finally the Flames Sign and Recall Krys Kolanos.
The Akim Aliu trade was a move that moved an injury prone player for one that isn't, as simple as that.
The move involving Kolanos is a little controversial as we just signed a 30 year old player to a 2 way 550k deal. More then likely we will see him stay at the AHL level and give the team veteran experience but until we find out what the condition of Stemper is he will slot in as a replacement temporarily. This year Kolanos has been excellent, recording 18 goals and 40 points in just 34 games.
After dropping the game to Detroit the other night things are suddenly feeling worse then they already were! (that is possible?)
What do you think are we just shoring up our AHL or is all this foreshadowing of an impending trade or blow up here in Calgary?

I think Feaster can go either direction depending on what happens the next 5 games. We go 1-4
it'll be sell sell sell!!!
If you look at the team on paper it is way better then they play. We should be able to pull off 7/8.
Seems like all our pieces on other teams would do amazing.
I'm excited to see Kolanos... Calgary needs a good comeback story
Yeah I thought Comeau would be that story, he has been pleasant but certainly no big story. Your right we could use a story. Sadly Kolanos is older
