"Flames coverage in Ontario"
Kingston, ON • Canada • 28 Years Old • Male

As per NHL.com the Carolina Hurricanes have found a dance partner in Montreal Canadians and managed to trade a problem player for a recently injured player. The deal as reported is just a straight player for player trade involving no picks or other players.

With any luck Kaberle can find some way to turn around his minus -12 that he has achieved in 29 games and get his career headed back in the right direction.

As a flames fan I feel for Carolina, we have been the recipient of plenty of Toronto Maple leafs castaways and are very much feeling the effects of it still to this day.

To think all we have to show for the Phaneuf deal is Stajan and Babchuck...

What do you think?

I think Kaberle will not be worth his salary, and he is signed for .5 million more and 2 years longer than Spacek. I think this is a salary dump move for Carolina, who has to be seriously thinking about a rebuilding effort. Meanwhile, the Leafs hope Kaberle can improve and save them from an inevitable slump, but I don't see that happening. Win to Carolina.

I think you meant Montreal hopes Kaberle can improve. Sometimes a switcheroo can be just what a player needs to re-invigorate them. Montreal (sitting 28th in the league for PP) wanted Kaberle to try and help getting the PP pumping and help keep them relevant.I thought about what it would be like to have a Kaberle, but just as quickly I thought about the pickup we made this month (Blake Comeau) and I am glad were going with the youth!
