Saturday saw the Hawks make every fan sweat through their pants with an exhilarating 5-4 victory. Kane, Seabrook, Sharp, Stalberg and Bolland tallied for the Hawks. The Hawks played well and even though they let Nashville crawl back into the game and ultimately tie it up, only to be answered by a beautiful pass from Andrew Shaw to a streaking Brent Seabrook. This game showed me that even though the Preds played Detroit the night before, the Hawks can beat them and beat them on the road. The power play had two goals last night. Yes, our power play had two goals and helped propel the Hawks to that early lead.
In a game that looked awfully close to the old Minnesota-Chicago battles, the hawks were unable to come away with a victory. Devin Setogucci buried the decisive goal in the shootout through the pads of Ray Emery. Patrick Kane finished a hot weekend with a two goal performance and looks to be in top gear for playoff time. Not to mention he undressed Josh Harding in the shootout. The kids were awfully feisty as well. Bollig, Shaw and Hayes all dropped the gloves and held there own. The shootout has been a huge question mark for the Hawks with the absence of Jonathan Toews. Even though it doesnt matter come playoff time, Q has thrown some interesting line ups out there. Hossa was not chosen in favor of Bolland and Sharp which to me is difficult to understand. Nonetheless, the Hawks tied the Preds in points last night and it looks as though four teams in the Central could hit the 100 point plateau which speaks volumes of the difficulty and talent this conference holds.
Nick's Hits:
-Emery really looks to be bothered by that hip injury and hopefully he will be better come playoff time.
-Toews has been cleared for contact still no timetable for his return.
-Patrick Kane has 3 goals and 2 assists in his last three games.
-Sharp has a goal in each of his last three games.
-Hossa looks like he could use some rest.
