That, my friends, is what we Sabres fans have paid Thomas Vanek in the last 3 weeks. Well over have half a million already (that's probably more than you make in a whole year combined!) to, effectively, replace Drury and Briere (who made approximately as much together, last year, as we're paying the goat-herding, Edelweiss picking, Super G loving Vanek right now. Oh, and for the NEXT SEVEN YEARS.).
You know it really is too soon to make any kind of judgment on the completely insane corner of a contract the Sabres got backed into with Vanek this summer. But it's not too soon for the man to come forward and try to win a game for us. I'm not saying he has to do it but he has to at least stand in front of the net and get chopped down trying.

This is brilliant analysis. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Oh my God!!!!!!! Finally someone who sees the reality of it all. Vanek is way way overpaid. Another Regier/ Quinn screwup. He will never be able to duplicate his numbers from last year. Also he is one of the laziest players in the league. WHEN YOU GET PAID $7MIL A YEAR YOU DAMN WELL BETTER GO OUT AND SCORE A BIG GOAL "WHENEVER" YOUR TEAM NEEDS IT.WAKE UP THOMAS VANEK................
It was such a tough decision, but I figure Regier thought there would be a full on Sabre fan rebellion if they didn't sign Vanek after the offer sheet was thrown at him, especially after losing Drury and Briere. At least, that's what my Sabre fan friends were saying. Haha, he's turing into the new Yashin.
You could be paying Briere 10 million this year. Dont get me wrong. I'm happy we signed him, but 10 million is a bit more than his worth, imo. But then, I'm of the opinion that all professional athletes from all sports are way overpaid, especially considering they are playing a game. I feel the same way about Hollywood, and actor/actresses.....
Except CFL players they only make like 60 k a year.
