The Flyers look to beat the hated division rival in the Pittsburgh Penguins today at 1pm. After coming back from 4 goals down on Thursday night against the Hurricanes(thank god we don't play em' again), the Flyers definitely better not get down in this game because if they get down, the chances of them coming back are very slim. Everyone needs to remember that we picked apart that AHL defense(other than Corvo and Joni), and an AHL goalie on Thursday night. The Pens have NHL players on defense, and at goaltender, so if the Flyers get down big today, you can forget about a victory. The key to this game today for the Flyers is to get off to a good start, obviously. We need to set the tempo in this game, and if we can do that, we have a pretty good chance to win this game. A lot of times in Saturday afternoon home games for the Flyers, there is not a whole lot of energy, and that's understandable at times, but come on now, the Flyers are playing the Pens, and this is a big matchup. I expect this game to be a smashmouth, heavy hitting, high scoring type of game. There will be a lot of heated moments in this game, and even a few fights. Obviously, the key to beating the Pens is stopping Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Those are the main guys you have to stop, but don't just forget about guys like Sykora and Dupuis, who scored hat tricks on Thursday night against the Isles. For the Flyers, we need our big guns to step up today. Richie, Jeff, and Simon will step up today and have big days for the Flyers. I'm going to tell you this right now, the player to watch for the Flyers today is Mike Knuble. I think he's due for a couple dirty goals today. We haven't seen him get those dirty goals today. It's time for that to change. In the end, I expect the Flyers to win this game 5-4, with Jeff scoring two key goals, Richie setting up 3 goals, and Simon scoring a big powerplay goal.
