Holy Niitty! That is how you describe today's game. Antero Niittymaki made 47 saves, including 25 in the first period, and the Flyers trampled over the Capitals 7-1 today. Obviously, Niitty was the big key in this game, but Scott Hartnell also joined the party. He scored a hat trick in this game, which was his 4th hat trick in the calendar year. After the second goal, the fans threw the hats out on the ice, because they thought that Jeff Carter scored his third goal of the game. Well, the fans got to redeem theirselves, and Harts scored his third goal of the game. Right now, Harts is on fire and should be one of the candidates for NHL player of the month. Not only that, but Jeff Carter is playing great hockey and he is doing his thing. [img]
http://scores.espn.go.com...8538&gameId=281220015[img] The Flyers made the most of their opportunities in this game. Even though the Flyers only had 28 shots on goal, 7 shots went in the net. The Caps had 48 shots on goal against Niitty, including 25 in the first period, but Niitty was the star of this game. What I saw today was a goaltender that was locked in, and anything that came to him, he saved. Niitty had an unbelievable game today, and he is playing great in net. Simon Gagne added a powerplay goal in this game, and Simon is playing great hockey as well. One of the big keys in this game was stopping Alex Ovechkin. The Flyers did just that, by stopping OV and making him mad. OV had a lot of shots on goal, but his percentage was a big fat zero. Not only that, but the supporting cast around OV was stopped. You didn't hear Nicklas Backstrom's name being mentioned that much today. He was stopped today. Now to the fights. Riley Cote and Donald Brashear went at it twice. Unfortunately, Brash beat Riley twice, but man oh man, it was a fightful type of game. I give Riley a ton of credit for dropping the gloves. Riley might not win a lot of fights, but he keeps the opposing enforcers honest. Josh Gratton also dropped the gloves in this game. He dropped them against Matt Bradley, and Gratton handily won the fight. Near the end of the game, Brash and Arron Asham were getting ready to drop the gloves, but the refs didn't let it happen, and both got 10 minute misconducts. Bruce Boudreau wasn't happy that the refs didn't let the game happen. I can see why Bruce wasn't happy. His team was getting killed, and he wanted revenge, but at the same time, it might have been a good thing for both teams. If Brash dropped the gloves with Asham, then that would have been an automatic game misconduct, and probably a fine and maybe a suspension. Whew, this was a fun, fun game to watch. There was lots of scoring and lots of fighting, and this was a beauty.
Good job kid. Keep it up
w00t !
nice blog!
I like Cote's heart, but for an enforcer he loses alot of fights!
I saw Nitty play like this before. Go back and watch the Calder Cup run - he was unbeatable!!

I didn't have time to write those blogs, seriously I didn't.
