Welcome to week 9 of the Fantasy Planner, getting you ready for next week's fantasy hockey action. (11/30 through 12/6).
Week 8 Matchups
Teams with 4 Games: Anaheim, Columbus, Colorado, Detroit, Florida, Nashville, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Toronto
Teams with 2 Games: Carolina, Edmonton, NY Islanders, Philadelphia, Phoenix
Not a good week to be starting your Oilers, as they only have two away matchups this week, and it's against Detroit and Dallas. Columbus has a favorable schedule this week, with 3 home games and 1 away, including home stands against the Blues and Leafs.
Who's Hot
Brad Richards (F - DAL) - Richards is on fire with 8 points in his last 3 games, and 10 in his last 5. Richards has carried the Stars so far this season, but he's generally unreliable as a fantasy starter. Ride him now, but don't be surprised if he goes cold in a week.
Tuuka Rask (G- BOS) - Rask started four games last week and won all of them. Seems like the Bruins are going to go with the hot hand, which belongs to the youngster right now. He may be available in your league.
Who's Cold
Ales Kotalik (F - EDM) - Just a couple weeks back, Kotalik was in the top 30 scorers. Now, he's slid back to about 70th, as he's on a 4 game draught.
David Clarkson (F - NJ) - Clarkson was looking good a few weeks back. That well seems to have run dry. He has just one point in his last five games and none in the past three.
Waiver Watch
Here are a few other names who may be available in your league and are worth a look:
Martin Skoula (D - PIT) - Injuries provided an opportunity for Skoula to go from the odd man out to the top defenseman for the Stanley Cup champs. He responded with 5 points in 5 games. Now that the leading men are returning to Pittsburgh, it remains to be seen whether or not his role will diminish. Worth keeping an eye on him.
Fedor Tyutin (D - COB) - With 7 points in his last 6 games, it appears that Tyutin is starting to show results on the hype that he carried when he was first drafted. Columbus is a riding a nice streak right now, and it's worth cashing in with guys like Tyutin while it lasts.
