Welcome to week 10 of the Fantasy Planner, getting you ready for next week's fantasy hockey action. (12/7 through 12/13).
Week 10 Matchups
Teams with 4 Games: Atlanta, Buffalo, Carolina, Calgary, Colorado, Florida, LA, Minnesota, Montreal, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Washington
Teams with 2 Games: Boston, NY Rangers
The Avalanche are flying high this season, and it should continue next week, as they have 3 home games (Wild, Lightning, Flames) and 1 away (Blues). Look for Stastny and the boys to put up big numbers. The Devils and Leafs both feature 3 out 4 games at home as well.
May be a good week to rest your Rangers, as they have just 2 games this week: Chicago and Buffalo. Boston has 2 games, too; however, they're up against Toronto and NY Isles, so you might as well keep your Bruins in the lineup.
Who's Hot
Matt Duchene (F - COL)
Duchene was shutout last night against the Pens, but prior to that, he had 5 goals in 3 games, and 10 points in his last 8. He may still be available in your league and it looks like Duchene is looking to make a serious run at the Calder Trophy. He's seeing some serious ice time lately, hitting a high of 24+ minutes on Wednesday.
Alex Edler (D - VAN)
Edler has 10 points in his last 8 games. He emerged last season as a decent fantasy defenseman, scoring 37 points in his 3rd season. He's well on track to best that number this season.
Miikka Kiprusoff (G - CGY)
Kipper has allowed 2 or fewer goals against in his last 6 games. After a slow start, he's the hottest goalie in the league right now. His GAA in November was 1.60.
Who's Cold
James Neal (F - DAL)
Neal is panning out to be a streaky fantasy forward. He scored a goal last night, but prior to that he went on a 5 game scoreless streak (not counting his 2 game suspension). Just before that, he rode a 10 game scoring streak. Proceed with caution if you have him in your lineup.
Niklas Lidstrom (D - DET)
I'm not suggesting you drop Niklas Lidstrom, but at least take the time to consider benching him. 2 assists in his last 9 games. Only 9 points on the season. If you wasted an early pick on Lidstrom this season, don't blame me. I warned you. He's still one of the top 3 defensemen of all time in my book, but he's no longer a significant fantasy option.
Waiver Watch
Here are a few other names who may be available in your league and are worth a look:
Stephen Weiss (F - FLA)
It took long enough, but maybe we're finally seeing all that offensive promise become reality. The Panthers have been talking Weiss up for years now. His recent hat trick may have been the announcement that he's arrived. He now has 16 points in his last 12 games, including 5 goals in his last three contests.
Dennis Wideman (D - BOS)
After a horrendously slow start to the season, including a 10 game draught, he finally looks to be turning the corner and returning to last season's shape. He has 5 points in his last 7 games and the Bruins are starting to get healthy. Look for Wideman's name to be showing up on the scoresheet a bit more often in the coming weeks.
Stephane Robidas (D - DAL)
Robidas has been in the league for 10 seasons and isn't exactly known as a scoring machine, but lately, it's hard to ignore the run he's on. He has 7 goals and 18 points so far and should easily surpass his career bests in both categories. Dallas doesn't have many alternatives on their backend for prime playing time, so Robidas will continue to get all he can handle there. Keep an eye on him.
Chris Stewart (F - COL)
Stewart has just 15 points on the season, but half of those points have come in the past two weeks. If you've watched the Avs lately, you've seen that this kid is becoming a significant power forward, and his numbers are starting to show it. Colorado has a favorable schedule next week, so it may be worth adding him in the short term while he's hot.

unless your league is filled with idiots or is a very small league Robidas and Weiss will 100% be on a team right now, there should be no reason you would find those two on waivers, but otherwise some good advice in here
Look for a Press Release schedualed for Monday 12/7/2009 on the formation of the"International Hockey Association" 4on4 hockey league. For preview information goto; www.iha4on4hockey.com Thanks, Yours in Hockey
according to CBS, Weiss is owned in 58% of the leagues. Lot of idiots out there.
