I don't know if anyone will read this because it is in a list of many other bloggers...and to be honest, I don't know if anyone has said this because I read very few of the other blogs....

So...that being said....this is the quote that has done it for me:

"Mats is like Peter (Forsbeg) in that he would rather surprise than disappoint." -From a recent Eklund rumour -

That's why I read these blogs. I'm looking for the drama...the excitement. Sundin is the biggest story of the off season. As a Habs fan I loved to hate him. The "Stupid Captain" of the Leafs. How many times I laughed at his stupid quotes. I heard him compare the Leafs to the Anaheim Ducks just after they won the Cup. I literally laughed my ass off. And for good reason.

And now I sit here, waiting on the news that Sundin has signed with the Habs. Why? Because the story has intrigue. The Habs look pretty good. Even those who won't admit it still quietly wonder if they're good enough. (note: Leaf Fans)

That quote tells me Sundin's career as a Leaf is over. That would be the easy end to this saga. And to be honest? The boring one. We've debated this thing to death. Back to the Leafs? Fahget abaht it!!!! This is show business baby! Hey...so he doesn't sign with the Habs...I'm over it!!! Sundin between the Sedins in Vancouver. How F@#$%D is that? Great TV though. I'd watch it!!!

"Sundin plays for 500 grand for Detroit in effort to get his gloves on Lord Stanley" Riveting!!!! Worth the price of admission. Great television!!!

Maybe he was just doing what Leaders do making that comparison to Anaheim. To lead in to battle!! Convincing the troops they have what it takes....Maybe this guy's not so dumb after all. Hmmmmmm...he'd sure look good in blue, blanc et rouge. His agent JP has done marvels in fueling this saga. The two are in cahoots!! They're planning a big splash!!! They've known all along where they are signing!!!! Those cheeky bastards!!!!

Anything but the Leafs is a good story. A reason to look forward to some good hockey. If he signs with the Leafs I will truly believe he is as dumb as he sounded as Leaf captain believing deeply they were Cup worthy.

And if Sundin does sign with the Habs? I'll get over it. Maybe Sundin is not so dumb after all.

I think calling Sundin dumb for saying the Leafs were cup worthy is a bit harsh. He was the Captain of the team for christ's sake. He doesn't have the luxury of saying the team sucks, even if it does. Leadership must always show the utmost confidence in the team, or else they might aswell fold up shop and not even bother with the season. I'm tired of people calling atheletes dumb because they support their team in difficult times. That's where character and integrity come into play, but for the most part people just want to win regardless of those factors. If Sundin comes back to the Leafs, so be it-- he's always welcome to lead them through another season while the young guys get a little big league experience. If he doesn't then all the best to him and i hope he goes to Montreal or Detriot. Maybe if he goes to Montreal he can teach Kovy a thing or two about work ethics, integrity, and leading a team from the front rather than whining about it from the rear.

I'm a habs fan. If the player I want doesn't sign with my team I'll hate him forever.

I'm a habs fan. If a player doesn't decide immediately to come to my team I'll post blogs saying he *might* be really dumb.

rdfred... still lost... where?who knows, but we know one thing: The Canucks haven't won a Stanley Cup yet!I never said the Leafs were great. All I pointed out is a double standard on how if a player is with the Leaf, he's worthless, and if he's with the Habs, he's smart.

"If he signs with the Leafs I will truly believe he is as dumb as he sounded as Leaf captain believing deeply they were Cup worthy." ... habs fans have that same deep feeling that montreal is cup worthy, and since mats said this neither team has won so...

twiztedmike!..pay attention....this blog focuses on the circus nature of the story not an opinion on mats sundin...read between the lines buddy...

Here's my issue though, completely unrelated to this blog.Toronto fans get knocked for being rude to Mats Sundin, and all our 4 other underperforming players who refuse to waive their no-trade clause at the deadline. But seriously, if you had 4 underperforming players, and another player who is a great asset who could potentially win a stanley cup, and they all refuse to waive in a futile attempt to make the playoffs, wouldn't you be annoyed. I know that any fan base would be disappointed. Most of us on the Leafs LOVE Mats Sundin and we supported his decision. The others, maybe not so much, but we were all frustrated because it was evident the team needed change

And your loyalty to the team should supersede any player, no matter how great...Sundin's decision was counter productive to the Leafs future...as a great player he earned the right, no doubt...but if the Leafs ever do win the Cup, Sundin will have no connection to that victory whatsoever...think about that...

Hey Zombie...thanks for the comments...your baseless personal insults reinforce my beliefs in my blog and further reinforce my gut feeling you have no substantial hockey knowledge to even form a basic argument...or, much to your own dismay, you just support my theories so strongly that you resort to insulting me in frustration...either way, Thanks Kid!!

this guy knows nothing of hockey and is clearly an idiot. 38 years old and not a mature bone in his body. you bash the leafs for no reason. youre an idiot, seriously. grow up, move out of your moms basement and get a life.

Well judging by your screen name it's obvious you have no ability to be constructive about the Leafs...your blind faith makes you numb to anything realistic but you still found it important to comment on my blog...and that is the one thing that prevents me from truly feeling sorry for you..

Sundin is awwful are you kidding???? Sundin is everything a hockey player should be. At 37 he is still a dominant force and I cant wait for the Rangers to bring him in!
