Is This Leadership?

Posted Thursday | Comments 2
Trotz looked beaten, saying "We're going to have a mourning period for about an hour, and then we'll look forward to the next game." What? Is this the kind of response you expect from the guy who is supposed to shape the way his team feels and reacts to a loss like this? I don't think so. The Preds have not played well these past two games of the series and in doing...

Passion

Posted Friday | Comments 0
We all know tonight is do or die. Win or go home. Win or golf tomorrow. Win or pack up their lockers (and offices maybe if your Trotz) tomorrow. With their backs to the wall the Preds have to come out and take control of this game early. The crowd will be there (all 17,113 of them) and be waiting to explode with support for their boys. Just give us a reason early. A big...
Rumor has it that the Preds are picking up the one year option on Barry Trotz and his contract. This means that the coaching staff will be together one more season before the org. will decide whether or not to let Trotz and his staff go. Expect more after the 2 pm PC. Just to clarify, this is a rumor, but I did get it from a qualified media source.

Trotz and CO. Safe

Posted Friday | Comments 0
The Predators picked up the one year options today on the entire coaching staff of the Preds meaning that head coach Barry Trotz, assistants Brent Peterson, Peter Horachek and goaltending coach Mitch Korn will all be back with the club next season. Preds GM David Poile had this to say about Trotz: “Teams and ownership change coaches, and managers, for that matt...
This blog has little to do with hockey but it has a bit to do with sports and life and our values. In the past few months a lot of things have happened within sports and ties to the real world that have me shaking my head. Let's take a few examples of our sports stars/personalities, Michael Vick, Tim Donaghy, Mark Bell, Barry Bonds, any cyclist. What's the common t...
Here is whats RIGHT.....the current and latest owner. Jeffery Vanderbeek has delivered on his promise, got a new beautiful building built that is the class of the NHL ( just ask anyone who has gone, rather than cower in fear at the percieved vision of what they think that part of Newark is like) I liked him from day one when he kept his regular season ticket seats in with ...

Yankees 12, Red Wings 1

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
Even those who don't follow baseball know who the New York Yankees are. And these fans and potential fans know what the Yankees are about - winning. We recall that earlier in the past season the Yankees were faltering. Some pundits were predicting that, for the first time since time immemorial, the Yanks would not make it to the post seas...
He looks like Mister Heat Miser. Please Barry Shave it off. You look like a complete bunghole.

Emotional...

Posted Friday | Comments 0
I'm an emotional guy. I am. I cry at Applebee's commericals (you know the one with the coach where they ask him to hang up his team championship photo), baptisms at church, movies (too many to name but most recently watched Rudy again for a good cry!), heck I even got teared up that first home playoff game (man that place was electric!)...so to put it bluntly I am an emo...
Beating a Dead Horse...Again. As expected, Nashville Tennessean columnist David Climer played the 'same ol' Predators' card this morning. Most local Nashville writers have chosen to take the 'glass half-full' approach regarding the Predators Game Six series-ending loss to Detroit, but of course David wouldn't be David if he didn't demonstrate his fair-w...
ESPN analyst Barry Melrose will be introduced as the Tampa Bay Lightning's new head coach at a news conference Tuesday. Melrose has been an ESPN analyst full-time since 1996. He had previously worked as a studio analyst for ESPN's Emmy Award-winning 1994 Stanley Cup playoff coverage and for ESPN and ESPN2 during the 1995 Stanley Cup playoffs. Melrose was the he...
Isn't Barry Melrose, and his wind tunnel tested hairdo, returning behind the bench one of the 7 signs of the impending Apocalypse? I mean, it has to be right after locusts and rivers of blood, right? I'm not quite sure of chapter and verse, but I swore I once read something akin to...

Penguins' Free Agency Wishlist

Posted Wednesday | Comments 0
After cooling off from yesterday's rant, I decided to come up with a wishlist of players I would like to see come to Pittsburgh. This is just meant to be something fun, since you all know you do the same thing with your own teams. Due to the number of guys that I'd like to see signed, I narrowed it down to 5. NOTE: These aren't in any particular order. #5 John-Michael L...
As pre-season approaches we as hockey fans are faced with another aging vet, deciding IF he's gonna play another season and if so at what point of the season he is going to start again. The ugly truth seems to be that Sundin is going to follow Scotty Nieds. and Teemu's path and delay the start of "thier" season till they decide. All summer J.P. Barry has given us "deadl...
First off i believe one hundred percent that those who were angered and offended by the beers, and the stogies are just upset they're great american team ran into a canadian squad destined for greatness. It seems like having lost the last three onlympics has soured the fans of the womens olympic squad. this is canada and here we celebrate wins, births, weddings, graduation...

Matthew Barry has made an excellent point in his blog on Bernier to Toronto for Frattin and a 3rd rounder (http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Matthew-Barry/Frattin-and-a-3rd-for-Bernier/125/45651) Barry's quote - Yeah, Bernier's been moaning like a kid whose parents won't t...
