I have to say that I did like the segment after the 2nd period during game 4 last night with Don Cherry visiting the NBC booth.
As far as the opinion of both Cherry and Brett Hull I have to agree that the majority would like to see fighting as part of the NHL and I do agree that ratings wouldn't suffer, but would be better if it was more common to see a little sparring during a game.
Let's hope that NBC tries to make this type of between period discussion, that has been a part of the CBC telecasts for years, a regular occurrence during next seasons games.
I agree with your comments as well. However I must admit having never seen Don Cherry before I don't know what all the fuss is about. I was visiting with a friend of mine today at lunch who maintains that NBC told him to tone it down or else...Your thoughts?
Don Cherry is not afraid to express what he thinks is best for the game and best for the average fan. Hockey Night in Canada is the time to hear a broadcaster speak about the game and the issues in the game, good or bad, that you can't find with all the other "yes-men" in the media who are too afraid to speak their mind. You know Billy clement wanted to agree with Cherry, but the network and league have him by the balls.
I think Cherry was probably more tame, because he was really just a guest it wasn't his usually forum where he is the man in charge. The problem with Clement is that he should be in the analyst chair instead of the host of the program, they need a broadcaster running the show not an ex-player who just isn't as good at it.
