To my surprise, I read this morning that the Canucks shipped Shannon down to the AHL team in the minors.

Maybe I am reading too much into this, but is this move for good ?
From all accounts Shannon had a very good pre-season and training camp, he was on everyone's top list to be the scoring threat that the Canucks had. In fact Saturday night he was playing with the Sedin's and had a goal. I have to believe that Shannon did something in the Flyer game that disappointed the Canucks. But that can be said for everyone. I am leaning toward a changeup on the top line, the Canucks are obviously embarrassed by the loss. And with speedy rookie Mason Raymond being a healthy scratch, I am predicting he will be skating with the Sedins tonight against the Oilers. More Speed.
To bad too, because with Shannon's "Stanley Cup" experience I really thought the team looked stronger. I guess that's why I am writing blogs and not managing a NHL franchise.
Being team worst -7 and scoring empty net goals from the Sedins effortlessly, I don't really feel surprised he got sent down.Especially since he's got a 2 way contract too....This will prob be a wake up call for the rest of the Canucks, and Shannon will not be in the minors for long.
