When Tim Connolly returned to the Sabres lineup last Saturday, a collective smile came across the faces of many Buffalo Sabres fans.
Connolly, sidelined 80 games recovering from a concussion and a broken leg, could be the key to Buffalos Stanley Cup run. When healthy, there many not be a better player on this team as far as creativity and making the players around him that much more dangerous. Connolly will help deflect some of the heat that will undoubtedly be on Daniel Briere's line and the Thomas Vanek line. Adding Connolly gives the Sabres one more dimension to their already strong offensive force.
Combining him with rookie upstart Drew Stafford and the gritty Adam Mair should be enough to give many teams fits.
The most important element that Connolly brings is puck control on special teams. They have been searching for it all year, I expect that Connolly will be limited in 5-5 and that Roy and Briere will take turns being double shifted with Stafford/Mair.
Good stuff Capt! I can't wait until he is completely comfortable on the ice and blows my mind everytime he touches the puck!
