After 18 games in the regular season, maybe, just maybe, the old Buffalo Sabres have arrived.

The Sabres got off to a hot start, scoring 3 goals in the first period while holding on to beat the NHLs best team, the Ottawa Senators 4-2 at HSBC Arena.

The Good:

Thomas Vanek was the best player on the ice for the second straight outing. Just physically dominating in front of the net and imposing his will onto others. Two gorgeous set ups on Roy's goal and Stafford's second period tally. Only a matter of time before he starts scoring.

With all the chances he's been getting, it was great to see Mike Ryan finally score a goal. Hes had numerous chances the past couple games but just couldn't find the back of the net. if he had better hands, he could be a 20 goal guy.

Fast starts were their best friend last season, and the last 2 games have saw them finally shake the first goal blues.

Bad:

Henrik Tallinder's horrid giveaway that led to the Sens first goal. Cannot make passes like that against the Sens.

Officiating again was horrid. Stupid trip call on Kotalik that led to the Sens seconf goal, while 2 obvious interference calls before that were missed.

Sabres are back on the ice Friday night at home against the Canadiens.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to my US readers. get ready to watch Brett Favre, TO and Peyton Manning light it up today. Two of which are part of my fantasy teams.
