Offseason Review

Just two days till camp and there are still many questions to be answered. Hype for the season is beginning to build and the ice is starting to freeze in arenas around the league. So where do we stand?
Recap: Here is the list of guys we picked up this offseason who will likely start

Going into Camp
As you can see we lost more guys then we gained. So going into camp there is a lot of room for some young guys to make their mark. This year were starting off with a new coach and new style of play. The prospects in the Traverse City Tournament are 2-1 after playing Detroit last night. Now they’re looking to place third on Friday. Tortarella has told everyone trying to make the team they should be in the best shape. That’s something I like to hear heading into the season. Tort plans on whipping these guys into shape and getting everything he can out of them. Guys like Callahan and Avery I think will really showcase this offense. As for the new guys it will be a wait and see. Of course I’m sure we only went after them because they would fit our new style. Its been made clear that Henrik will have to be brilliant in order for this up tempo play to flourish. Which I think is not an issue at all.
Dubinsky:
Like I have said in my first post I don’t think Dubinsky is going to be the great player people have in mind. Even thought I like him as a Ranger I wouldn’t mind seeing him go for Heatley. I know that at this point it’s probably unlikely but that’s the only time I’m willing to part for him. If the Rangers just lose him to Toronto because they out bid us I will NOT be happy fan! So my take is since his value is at a high. I would be willing to part with him for the right player. He is still a good player I just don’t/wouldn’t look for him to carry this team or make a big impact.

A lot of changes have come to the Rangers and only time will tell how they work out. As fans the only thing we can do is support the team and become the home ice advantage (As the Rangers promo suggests). This year is going to be a good one so get ready. At this point it’s too early to say were going to win the cup or dominate. All I can say is I think a playoff spot has our name on it. NYR
