This isn't going to be a real Earth-shattering blog, nor is it going to be very long. Just a thought that had the misfortune of firing across my synapse gaps...
I always thought it would be sorta neat if the Stanley Cup were presented to the winning team's captain not by Mr. Bettman, but by the captain of the defending Stanley Cup Champion. So for this year, Rod Brind'Amour would get a few last minutes with Stanley before turning it over to the new victors.
Thoughts?
I like it.. gives it an element of tradition and pageantry that are missing in pro sports today.. it works for golf.. now my idea has been to set up US pro sports like EPL soccer.. 2 teams get demoted from the league every year and 2 teams are brought up from the minors to take there place.. so if you applied to the NFL DET and OAK would be relegated and OSU and FLA would take there place this year..
redwoods, I've thoguth for a long time that Baseball is perfect for a promotion/relegation system, but that's a blog for another time (and another site) ;)
Great idea! The less we have to see of Bettman, the better.
Love the idea, maybe the defending champ would pass it back to the weasel...sorry I mean commissioner...and then the weasel...sorry commissioner would pass it over to the new champion....good idea....what if there was a returning champion?
that would be alright, but what happens if the team is going for back to back Cups?
MAS, quit causing trouble..... ;-)In that event, Bettman can simply present it.
