Imagine, Mats Sundin's possible last year, the season where Mark Bell was sentenced to serve time in the slammer, a new goalie, new 40 goal scorer. What if all of this was capped off by a Stanley Cup? Honestly, 3 games in, this season has been already extra ordinary.
I guess it started around early April, coming off a victory in Montreal, we were set to enter the playoffs in 8th place, just as long as the Islanders lost the next day.
The game was dismal for leaf fans. Richard Park scored 2 goals for the Islanders, and it was 2-0 in the third. Then 2-1. Toronto came quieter and quieter as the game neared the end. Then with .7 seconds left, the game was tied. Overtime served as no help. Then came the shootout, Scott Clemmenson let in the two shots he faced, then stopped Ryan Smyth, and the shootout was 2-1 in favour of the Isles. A save by Wade Dubielewicz would send them into the playoffs, and he made no mistake.
Now lets go to late June, where John Ferguson revealed that he traded away a few draft picks to San Jose for Vesa Toskala and Mark Bell.
A few days later, Jason Blake was signed on July 1st.
Now here we are, 3 games into the season, and we find that Jason Blake has been diagnosed with leukemia. Mark Bell isn't playing for another month. Wouldn't it be a script for the movies if the leafs went on to win the Cup?

Oh man, that's gold! Yeah, it would be a script for a movie. Unfortunately, the only cup the Leafs will be winning is that one in the Mike Myers movie. It's hard to think about winning when the organization is only concerned about making the 1st round of the playoffs.
