Last night, Henrik Lundqvist achieved something spectacular. He earned his 30th win of the season, for the third straight year.
What this means is the following:
In each of Henrik Lundqvist's first three NHL seasons, he has at least 30 wins. This has not been done since Garden favorite Ron Hextall (37 wins in 86/87, 30 wins in 87/88, and 30 wins in 88/89).
To Hextall's credit, he also had a 30 win season his fourth year.. so Henrik will be going for that record next season, I'm sure.
Henrik is close to his 100th career win, as he hit 97 last night. His career stats are as follows:
97-55-24 (15 Shutouts)
2.33 GAA
.916 SV%
Do not fear, fellow Ranger fans. We have the King for another 6 years!
with shootout wins now a part of the game, it's really not a fair comparison for wins...the same way brodeur beat parent's record for most wins in a single season last year.
Don't compliment yourself too much. Dan Cloutier had three consecutive 30 win season in Vancouver not to long ago as well.
I know plenty of goalies have had consecutive 30 win seasons, but Lundqvist and Hextall are the ONLY goalies in NHL history to have 3 consecutive 30 win seasons in their first three seasons in the league.. meaning rookie year 30 wins, sophomore year 30 wins, 3rd year 30 wins.. not 6 years after they are drafted.
Brodeur Brodeur ,everyone knows he's good. Lifes not fair and he had plenty of time for wins in OT. Not fair is not having the defense he had through out most of his career. As for you chief you missing the whole point ..its 30 wins in each of his FIRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST 3 seasons. Cloots was already Rangers garbage by then. Worry about dissing Florida and The Islanders for giving you the best keeper in the bizz,LU.
Mr. Lunqvist is a very good Goalie but He was already a Pro over in Sweden so Im gonna Say that Hex is still the only one.....
a sabre fan would say that. how can you compare the a league in sweden to the NHL? you can't. i am by no means a fan of the rangers but lundqvist is a hell of a goalie. i find myself defending him to my dad (who is a ranger fan) b/c he is that good. unfortunately for the rest of the eastern conference, i should say.
