What had been a battle for the 7th and 8th seeds in the West now looks more like a fight for 8th, as the Oilers have started pulling away from the pack. There's still time for the Stars to make a push for that 7th spot...but it's looking less likely after Edmonton tacked on points 78 and 79 in their shootout win over the 'Hawks.
Do the Stars (at 74 points) have a shot at making the playoffs, or is it too little too late after battling through a season of high-profile injuries? Here is the dogfight as of Saturday morning:
7. Columbus Blue Jackets (80 points in 71 games)
7. Edmonton Oilers (79 points in 71 games)
8. Nashville Predators (77 points in 72 games)
-----------------------------------------------------------
9. St. Louis Blues (75 points in 72 games)
10. Anaheim Ducks (74 points in 71 games)
11. Dallas Stars (74 points in 71 games)
12. Los Angeles Kings (70 points in 71 games)
What do you think? And does your opinion change with a win in San Jose this afternoon?
