I wrote this on a now-defunct blog site over two years ago, and re-posted it here about a year ago. After seeing the Chad Larose video review at the end of tonight's Game 2 against Boston, I'm re-re-posting it... .well....
a link to it at least.....
And just so y'all know, I'm gonna KEEP posting it until they get things figured out.
After reading your original post (and yes, I read it) I agree that some changes could be made. The one thing I read that I have an issue with is that, to the best of my knowledge, the "War Room" does NOT use the live TV feed alone. They have camera angles that TV doesn't have in addition to the feeds that the networks do have. If you have some evidence to prove me wrong then I would love to see it. I would love to know what the real deal is. All I can go on is what I've heard watching those same broadcasts.
is it ok if I were to post this on the main page. want to do a re-write to modernize it a bit and email it to me?
It was absolutely laughable that Larose's goal was dissallowed. The goal review process is a total joke. Good thing it never affected this particular game though. Bad goal reviews have cost teams Stanley Cups in the past and at this rate, if a goal needed to be reviewed at an important part of this year's playoffs; I would have zero confidence in the "War Room" to make the right call.
What I don't understant is why we depend on the War Room. Why not have it like the NFL and let the referee who made the initial call on the ice review the goal on tv in the penalty area and decide for himself. That way, he has too live with the call.
Bryan, I believe you are correct. Keep in mind that this was written in January of 2007, so some of it may be out-of-date. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Completely understand Blues. I do like the fact that you've brought this up, because I agree there are issues. I just thought that the league had already addressed that one particular issue. Great blog, though!
