Today the NHL announced its finalists for the Lady Byng Award. And to be honest I was first shocked to see Pominville's name listed as a finalist. But then I realized that it isn't that far fetched for Jason to be nominated. Do you ever see 29 complain? He is a true professional on the ice. He lets his skill and hard work tell his story. I think he has a legitimate shot at winning the award. Jason has the chance to be the 2nd Sabre to win the award. Gilbert Perrault won the award 35 years ago.

I believe it will come down to him & Pavel Datsyuk. Dats has the inside track being he is the 2 time defending award winner. And his stats are a bit better than Jason's. But lets consider his supporting cast. For him not to get 90+ would mean he is injured. Honestly Pommer has done more with less of a supporting cast. Not to take nothing away from Jochen Hecht , Dan Paille and the other players who filled in on that line. Pavel Skates with the likes of Henrik Zetterberg.

So hopefully the voters realize what Jason brings to the table and award him the 2007-08 Lady Byng Award.

Couldn't happen to a harder worker! I thought his production would fall off this season but he continues to amaze me. Great penalty killer also! Good for him.

I think they'll give it to St Louis...since he's been nominated the last 2 yrs and Datsyuk has won it the last 2. Pominville is definitely worthy of the nomination and should be named the Sabres full time Captain next season IMO.
