Welcome to Friday mornings Pre-Game Blog for tonight’s game versus the Saginaw Spirit!

In last Sundays game, our boys got spanked 6 – 1 by Mississauga. Justin Shugg led the way for the Majors with a hat trick while line mate Chris DeSousa had 2 assists. Cody Ceci scored the lone goal for the 67′s. It was certainly a game our boys want to forget, but should also be a game I hope they learn something from.

But … enough doom and gloom. Did anyone catch Shane Prince in the CHL prospects game? He was number 14 for Team Cherry and was also the lone goal scorer. Team Orr won the game by a 7 – 1 score.

Current League Standings:

Division: First
Conference: Third
League: Fourth

Pre-game Notes:

- This is the first meeting between the clubs this year
- Keep your eye on Vincent Trocheck & Jordan Szwarz for the Spirit.
- The 67′s are 5-5-0-0 in their last 10 games. Last week was pretty rough!
- Tyler Toffoli leads the OHL in scoring, Shane Prince is only 3 points behind. Thank you World Juniors!

Keys to the game for Ottawa:

- Don’t take to many penalties. The Spirit are the 1st ranked PP in the league @ 25.3%
- The penalty kill has to get better. We are ranked 4th overall in the PK @ 82.2%
- Be aggressive on the forecheck and in the neutral zone.
- Make smart passes when trying to either gain the 0-zone and break out of the d-zone.
- Spread the offense around. The top line can’t win them all.

Starting Line-Ups (I will announced these 1 hour before the game):

Ottawa 67’s:

Forwards: Toffoli, Prince, Martindale
Defense: Gibbons, Cardwell
Nets: Mrazek

Saginaw Spirit:

Forwards: Szwarz, McFarland, Shalla
Defense: Walch, Hermenegildo
Nets: Parks

Puck Drop: 7:30 PM
