Great game by Drury and company last night. A couple points to consider:
1) Following last night's 4-1 victory, Chris Drury made the expected, credit-deflecting comments to the media. As he usually does, he mentioned that the team felt really prepared because of Lindy Ruff's tutelage and how Lindy deserves credit because he has been drilling all of the important thing...
For part one of this 10 part series, I will be laying out my projected lines for the upcoming season complete with stats and player bios. This will serve as an introduction for parts 2-9 where I will break down each line and rate it. Enjoy!
Offense:
LINE 1:
Marcel Hossa, 25, Slovakia, 64 gm, 10 g, 8 a
*Scott Gomez, 27, USA, 72 gm, 13 g, 47 a

Two quick questions. I don't have a prize but for fun let's pretend that the person who gets them both right the fastest gets season tickets for life to the NHL team of their choice! (for the sake of competition don't go running to TSN or NHL.com to get the answer!)
What team leads the NHL in goals?
What team has allowed the fewest goals?
(Insert Jeopardy mus...
This topic was being discussed in another forum on this site, asking for the top goalie prospects not in the NHL. I thought I'd throw some stats together to settle some arguments:D...
Note: PLD is my abbreviation for how many games a goalie was pulled.

I stumbled upon a site that breaks down NHL statistics in some very interesting ways. I have decided to use some of these formulas to decide who this team needs to get rid of. For anyone that’s interested and a source for my breakdown.

We're about a third of the way through the season, so I figure it's about time I should issue my opinions of the Flyers (version 2008-09). The Flyers are sitting at 13-7-6. They have points in 73% of games, but only 62% of possible points. They also lead the league in overtime games, a stat that is bad for both my blood pressure and the team's chances in April and May. ...
Steve Stamkos with the trick last week, welcome to the NHL kid.
Alexi Kovalev sent home for being Alexi Kovalev. Sending him home won't work, Alexi is a flake you just have to deal with it.
Ain't no party like a Kostitsyn brothers party because a Kostitsyn brother party don't stop. Get those two with the Staal brothers and we have trouble.
Have you ever hit black ...

I've been really excited about the talent level of Andrei Kostitsyn ever since he was drafted 10th overall by the Montreal Canadiens. The 2003 NHL entry draft, in my opinion, was the best draft year the NHL has ever seen. Andrei Kostitsyn was considered ea...
If Barack Obama is the people’s President, Judge Wapner was head of The People’s Court, and The Rock is the People’s Champion, then surely Steve Yzerman is the People’s Captain.
Yzerman had a long, 23-year NHL career. Not all of it was pretty, not all of it was good, but Yzerman left the game in 2006 as one of the most beloved players to have ever laced up a pa...
Stats. Is it just me or are they getting out of hand? I have read more and more articles dealing with “adjusted corsi” dealing with zone starts and different line mate combinations etc lately. I do think there is a place for all stats however all stats are subjective to the million variables that go into an average day in this world. Stats will never tell a whole story...
This is intended as a reference only, but I thought I'd crunch the numbers for you all so you don't have to.
What I did was take the top 20 Goal Scorers from each NHL season since the lockout, and added their goal totals, ONLY IN THOSE SEASONS IN WHICH THEY FINISHED AMONG THE TOP 20. I think this approach gives you a better idea of how each player fares in comparison t...
Well I work on this during the intermissions of the Flyers game, and finally finished... here are some funs NHL Stats guys!

My favorite Wing as a kid was Danny Grant, came over from the North Stars for Henry Boucha, playing on a line with Redmond and Dionne had fifty goals one year, injuries derailed his career shorty after.
After that, it became Ogrodnick. Man could he shoot. Quiet, graceful player, when he was dealt to Quebec for Brent Ashton I was entering adulthood, 18 years old but st...
The wings are rolling over opponents, after losing the first two on a four game west coast trip, Jimmy Howard said the players rededicated themselves to playing tougher, the results? Seven wins in a row. Nonetheless, the Wings are a little short on the outside, Hudler has been Hudler, Cleary is way off his game, Bert and Homer are showing their age, Abdelkader isnt devel...
Rumors have been floating around for a while on Different players Buffalo is chasing. Names like Stasney, Ryan, and most recently Gagner have all shown up in rumors. It turns out, Buffalo could be setting up something a little better than most would have thought.
Recently the Flyers lost another D due to injury. The Oilers and Ducks are in desperate need of a good ...
The ideology that Canadian players are responsible for the success of any given team is common. Farm-born Saskatchewan kids can elevate their game and play clutch hockey when it really matters. But do local boys offer any discernable advantage over American or European players to a teams success? That's what this blog is going to be about. I'm going to find out.
To star...
In my recent spare time I've tried to make a magic process that can predict the amount of points a player will accumulate over any period of games. For accuracy's sake, this process will only apply to first-line players (using The Hockey News Depth Charts to define a player as ‘first-line’). Creating the steps has been a process of trial and error that has taken severa...
Oh the Advance stats. How far they have come. From a bunch of non-jocks writing blogs to the NHL publishing them on nhl.com. Some call it a major advancement. Other say who really cares.
I fall into the who cares side of it. While they might have some use, I think too much value is being put in these number. A good example of this is the Battle of Alberta. I live right...
With October now behind us, it is time to look back at a very hard month of hockey to watch.
After a very impressive preseason where the Jackets looked like a playoff team, a very slow start in the early stages of the regular season results in the removal of Todd Richards and the hiring of John Tortorella. With the new hiring of Torts, back-to-back wins result in b...

Every team in the NHL has now played 41 games in the 2015-2016 NHL regular season.
Columbus ranks dead last in the NHL with 36 points. They are on pace for at least 70 points by the time the season ends, keeping them close to or at the bottom come April.
The Jackets current leading point scorers (top 3) are Scott Hartnell (31), Brandon Saad (30), and Cam Atkins...
